You know what's the fun part about playing a mage top?

Enemy champion completes item 3065 .

Congratulations, now they win every trade, despite you being several kills ahead of them, thanks to the free damage and stats in their kits.

Meanwhile, your damage becomes nonexistant. Especially when playing against something with sustain. Just had a Nasus. Me and my team were totally crushing him, making sure he doesn't free-stack. Guy was 0/6/1, but WOOOPS, he was stronger than me, the moment he completed the item and got a Sheen.

I usually have no problems playing against most toplaners, but the moment they can buy SV without really missing any damage it's just not fair anymore. I know there needs to be an itemization against AP-users that use their range against melees, but this is total overkill.

Because maybe I want to play my favourite champions? And win fair and square and not just pick whatever is broken?

You can't circumvent a hard APC mid, by going against the Bruiser at top. You need to reevaluate your building paths and consider how scaling works for both champions.

If you're meaning Akali, I've been good at countering her with just Maoki alone.

If you mean Kennen, Jayce is the best choice in my opinion.

Why should another branch of champion dominate in a lane they were never meant to? That would make APC overpowered.

Man, I wonder how the Caitlyn mid players feel when they play against Syndra, Annie or Zed.

get these tankbusting items as a mage vs a tanky team

honestly mages should always get these items IMO since they are so good and provide good damage and good tankyness. tankbusting to kill tanks, with still good damage to kill squishies

void staff liandrys

then rylais (if your champ wants more cc. which increases the burn of liandrys)

and for mana get rod of ages or seraphs

also nasus is a bad example because nasus is the one champion in the game that wins every 1v1, but becomes weaker in a 5v5. to beat nasus to have to force 5v5 situations. every champ other than nasus you can fight as a mage

Maybe then don't pick a Mage top where tanks, the natural counter to mages, go most often? That's like me taking Ashe in mid lane and then complaining that the enemy Zed or LeBlanc smashes me into the ground

Nasus is just broken. All he needs to do is last hit and he will outscale anyone. I think it's more a problem with the champion.
