Just got a Survey on the updated Malzahar

Asking on how i feel about the update to malzahar xD

Because you know, riot doesn't take feedback on the boards seriously.

It's simple. The new malzahar feels like a terrible version of the old AD malzahar, something i played a lot, no matter how you play him. You're extremely dependent on your voidlings, which were made less reliable and feel completely disconnected from the player. AD relies more on the voidlings, and scales worse than AP, in every regard.

If anything I feel like I have more control over the voidlings now. They don't run off for no reason anymore and always attack based on the way the patch notes described him.

He's much more viable now building AD in the jungle and is a bitch to deal with in lane because of his passive. In fact, I would say that Riot needs to increase the cooldown on his passive by a significant amount.

If you feel his voidlings are more controlled now then you never understood pre-rework malzahar to begin with.

The only difference between the voidling controls is that the priority system got changed from random targeting > attack target > E > R to Closest target > E > R

Also AD jungle malz was always this viable. The only difference is that now your voidlings will do ALL of the work for you. AP is still better because of the overall better scaling and slow you can get with item 3116

Old ad jungle malz gets invaded and can't do anything about it. Don't forget about how useless you were in ganks pre-six. With the passive he has now, if you invade him your more likely to just get combo'd and killed.

If you couldn't win early invade with AD malz jungle, that's on you.

Back at the peak of LeeSin i would play AD malz jungle, get invaded probably 9/10 times at red buff, Kill him, and take red.

The new version just takes 0 skill to actually jungle, because the voidlings act as face tanks for everything. The old version actually required malzahar to tank, and use the voidlings as damage.

I don't think I can agree with you on the invade issue. Any smart jungler isn't going to fight you unless they can easily push you out or kill you. That decision includes looking at what spells the enemy has up, seeing their mana and hp levels, and in malz's case, whether his voidling is about to come up or about to die. I've seen lee's blindly invade me when I played morgana....and ofc if I have q up they just die...

I definitely agree with you on your second point, though. It was more challenging/fun to play him jungle before the rework. However, if you want optimum clears with the new malz, you want to tank a few hits with your passive against some of the stronger monsters like gromp or drag.

If it were up to me I would have preferred having the voidlings controlled in the way annie and shaco use your ultimates.

What the fuck are you talking about? How are they more controlled now?

The old malzahar had cases where the voidlings had undefined behaviors. If you were just standing still, sometimes they attacked shit and sometimes they would just follow you around and ignore enemies. Also, the fact that there's no leash range means that I can e someone and the voidling will follow that hoe to the ends of the earth like I wanted them to.
