Why is Ryze being banned so much?

He has like a 70% ban rate now. When did Ryze become so good. I thought he was actually a bit weaker after his rework. And his win rate isn't even above 50%, so clearly he isn't having much success.

Ryze has the ability to perma-snare an enemy for a long period of time. It's pretty dumb & abusable.

He can basically perma-root from level 3 after his changes in 5.10. May have been before that, but I haven't played him for a few months.

Oh, Ryze is certainly NOT weaker after his rework. That being said, the reason he is being banned a lot is probably because he is banned in LCS. So people are either banning him because LCS teams are, or people are banning him so that they don't get stupid teammates with 0 Ryze games that want to play him because they saw an LCS guy do it once.

I think ryze is being banned alot due to the fact he can 1v1 easily and come out on top, even at half health( by my expierence btw)
