Please DON'T revert the Scutte changes

The game is so much healthier now that the jungle has been changed. I've never had so much fun as a laner before, and I actually enjoy jungling now as well, where previously it felt miserable and I couldn't stand it. Jungle has finally been reigned in, and its excellent. THere are a lot of people who AREN'T running to the boards to rage, because they're not mad they're happy. Please keep this change, even double down on it, by making it possible to farm your way back in for junglers, by shortening the jungle camp timers, and making counter jungling a more common option.

For those who disagree, here are some important revelations. In old jungle, the points for interaction against scaling junglers, especially tanks, were very minimal because its so easy to keep pace with the enemy jungler, because of paths and the fact that all the camps are already up to start. They're not missing waves, theyre just offset. This means that all effects of invades and denials are delayed. This means that until second back, there is no real noticeable difference between junglers, and in that window, its so easy for the weak jungler to pick up some free resources, or for the ahead jungler to skip some camps and fail a gank. It was nearly impossible to abuse weak early junglers and get any kind of meaningful lead.

This is why J4 and Sej ruled the jungle forever, because they could gank, and couldn't be abused for being weak early while they scaled well into late. The nerfs and buffs made champions able to abuse them, alongside some rune changes, but this essentially meant the champs were chosen by riot to be OP or in the dumpster, because an underlying flaw was holding back the jungle. Without this change, the underlying illness in jungle would have only prolonged a perpetual cycle of OP champions, and everything else being nerfed into the garbage to compensate for a deep flaw in the game. There are currently a lot of champs in bottom who are OP, because of the sheer quantity of damage in the game. There is an underlying flaw in certain kits that breed a toxic meta. Bot lane is not the only guilty on though, despite getting the most attention. Jungle is too, and jungle needed to get fixed first because a large par tof the problem in bottom is the second reason jungle needs changed.

The normal path last patch was to buff to buff, with a raptors in between, gank, take another small camp and scuttle, back clear the last small camp and the go to a side lane. Now the entire jungle except krugs is down. The jungler is free to go hang out next to a lane, doing nothing, not risking anything on a gank, and just zone off the enemy. The jungler was able to deny 2-3 waves of farm to a lane, while losing nothing, cause they had no camps up to steal. If the other jungler came, the resulting 2v2 or 3v3 was determined by the priority and strength of the laners, not the junglers, because of the aforementioned impossibility of getting a meaningful lead over late game junglers, and general undesirability of early game junglers who could contribute meaningfully to this. The jungler with priority has to be attacked, which means they have the upper hand in landing their combo or CC, and getting the jungler or laner chunked out and forced to back. Essentially the advantage always sat with the party in the least risky position, and the reward for succeeding from the risky position was to not get denied. This was so incredibly toxic to side lanes, especially bottom, where the jungler comes and you just have to leave, because you'll die on the dive or just have to abandon your tower and accept there is nothing you can do. Its even worse when your jungler is behind and taking the risk isn't even an option. Literally no counterplay.

Lastly, the issue could not be resolved by some revolutionary jungle techniques, because the jungle was set up to discourage farming and 1v1. The safe option was always also the most rewarding option, with camp XP drop offs with overleveling, long camp timers, abundant vision. Vision has slowly been dropping off, overleveling caps are now gone, camp timers are the same, but the incentive to invade and contest is now much greater, so that kind of evens out. You couldn't farm through it, or outclear, because of the rewardingness of buff to buff pathings.

With new jungle, now, laners can impact and meaningfully contribute to their jungle and the enemy, ganks are reasonable, because the junglers require set up and can't force ganks, establishing a meaningful lead, comparable to how laners can, and also, laners can just fight and lane, and expect only a "big play" to impact their lane, not just some jungler afking in their lane

What about the massive lead and advantage you get from the highly over tuned scuddle crabs? The jungler who cannot get them for whatever reason, (usually poor teamwork or bad match ups and poor warding) is fucked...

The healthy change would have been to tone down camps xp a little, and gold a little. And improve spawn speed. Almost like the way the jungle used to be before riot ruined it for no reason over a year ago.

This scuddle crab is nothing but toxic. It grants way too much power to the team that secures it, and its tough to encourage laners to actually try to secure it and help out.

Anything that requires teamwork and coordination automatically hurts solo Q players.

You're thinking about them backwards. As a game determiner they provide a means back into the game for the behind person because its so rewarding. Also, did you not read anything I just said about the toxicity of jungler independence leading to riot deciding whats OP and whats garbage rather than a broad and balanced champion pool? Yeah, if the enemy team works together, you lose. Good. That is exactly how everyone else deal with it. Did you miss the bit about how miserable it was to be a laner against old jungle, because it required a minimal level of teamwork and you automatically lose. Now, there is some back and forth

I doubt you jungle, you really don't have a clue how much this change gimps us. Its a massive problem when i'm level 4 doing perfect clears and positioning myself well, and the laners are 6. At that point just go duo top, you would still get more out of it.

I never claimed jungle was in a good place, I have always hated this stupid catch up xp shit. But placing all the power in the scuddler is not a solution, its just another problem.

The game should not be decided within the first 5 or so minutes in the game. And no no no... the scuddler is NOT a catch up tool. It is a necessity to keep up with the laners now, and if you fail to get it or die trying, you are fucked for the entire early game, which hurts your mid game, which hurts your late game.

In a 2v2 between two level 6 and level 5 champions, does it really matter? You have equal sides. Also, yeah, YOU CAN NOT FORCE GANKS ANY MORE which means lanes don't have to miss 3 waves while you miss nothing because you're in a bush

You make great points until:

I disagree. Some things should require it (Baron for instance), but not everything should require instead of encourage it. This is still a team game, and requiring the bare minimum of teamwork skills should be somewhat integral to it. If teamwork is not your cup of tea, there's other competitive games out there.

Having to depend and rely on 4 other random people just to have a shot at being useful in the jungle is not good gameplay.

Having 4 people at the mercy of the jungle, because you can AFK in lanes, force ganks, and play the safest champions with maximum map rpessure is not good gameplay

but not everything should require instead of encourage it.

I only disagree with you to a point.

The baron changes were good, making it harder and more team-based. Scuttle, not so much.

As I recall, the scuttle changes were supposed to curb early ganking and expand jungle variety. It succeeded in the first part, but the scuttle changes doomed all but the early game duelists and the dedicated control junglers. The fact that some may need to rely on aid from laners to secure what amounts to some XP and a free ward also means that solo Q junglers are hurt by it too.

had 2 goals:

1 curb early ganking VS laner 2 encourage early ganking VS jungler.

jungle variety was not a goal

OK, maybe I misrembered scuttle's goals, but variety is still an overarching goal for jungle.

Keep in mind that the changes were aimed at curbing jungler power more than actually balancing every jungler. Expanding jungle variety is done by directly buffing weaker junglers and nerfing stronger junglers.

Doesn't work like that; that easily results in junglers going into lane, i.e. Diana. You know, because the jungler gains too much so they roll over lanes or loses too much that they somehow work better in lanes.

Buffs can always be targetted towards monsters only. Target buffs and nerfs on a champion will always be more effective at balancing that champion in the jungle than trying to change the entire jungle.

If target changes are "more effective" than changing jungle itself, why did Riot resort in the latter to deal with early ganks? Would it not be "more effective" to nerf the ganking abilities of every jungler? Or buff their predators?

Oh wow, its almost like its important to play with your team. As if... instead of laners depending on and being at the mercy of junglers, its now a two way street

It's always been like that; jungle tries to gank and secure kills for your winning lanes and you should help maintain jungle control. Laners can help allied jungle and run interference against enemy junglers.

I honestly love the changes , at least no more level 3 ganks , and I love the 2v2 fights that are being made around scuttler .

My favorite part is that jungler dont afk in my lane and force gnaks when I try to farm, because theyre 1 or 2 levels up
