How is Shyvana right now? I don't ever see to do well with her, is she weak or no?

I don't jungle very often but thought I'd try getting a bit of practice in using Shyvana. Went 1/11, so I don't think more needs to be said about my performance. I'm wondering in hindsight if I may need to find other junglers, because she's basically an auto-attacker semi-tank with no inherent cc, and I dunno if I can gank well with that. :\

she sucks w/o dev

She's a little under average. Max W, go cinderhulk into trinity force and maybe another damage item at some point and you should be fine.

That's a good build if they have a squishy team really. I'd say Bloodrazor and ruined king if they're tanky

Yeah probably.

Shes pretty bad atm.

  • No cc
  • Damage is very questionable
  • The passive tank stats she gets are very minor...

Yea shy is kinda out of it.

Right now Hecarim is literally the better shyvana with the current meta needing earlier ganks, better objective control, more lock down, damage, and hec happens to do all that consistently better.

If there is some nerfs to meta champions she might come back and be picked more, but I think buffing her might be too much since before they nerfed her last she was very broken.

Hec can't apply onhits and crits twice. He has no passive resistances and can't shred hp as well like shyvana's mixed damage and E % damage. The only thing they have in common is aoe, movespeed, and a knockback move.

Shy applying on hits and doing %HP damage isn't that significant compared to hec being tanky, much more mobile, a knockback+fear, and less reliant on an ultimate level 6.

Like shy is a good duelist due to the resistances and onhits, making her able to tank and deal insane damage, but hecarim also blows up targets while tanking them and keeping them in a knockback or fear preventing movement, and he can knock them into an ally. Shy deals double auto damage with %HP yes, but I see myself blown up about as often as I do from a sheen hecarim.

Granted shy isn't the worst champion, its just there's little reason to pick shyvana over hecarim. What does shyvana bring to the team that champions like Hecarim Skarner Zac Volibear Olaf wouldn't fill as well and would be worse at that job than shy? My other thought is not of these can splitpush as well as shy due to her double auto Q on towers, but splitpushing is always debatable when you look at higher ratings.

Also you have to keep in mind shy's passive is just bonus armor and MR on a more often than not bloodrazor build, whereas others get the same if not more bulk from %HP cinderhulk.

Honestly, I'd probably compare her to Mundo or Udyr rather than Hecarim; I just find their play-styles and strengths to be more similar.

The thing about shyvana is you kind of need to know what you want to do with her and how to do it. She's got an acceptable win rate and she's not terrible. As a jungler she's got the ability to push waves, take objectives, counter jungle, counter-gank, and can be either really tanky or a tanky-dps champ. Her only real weaknesses are a lack of ganking ability and no CC.

I dunno, I do pretty well at her honestly. Usually end up carrying my team if I play her.

She does enough damage if you mainly buy tank items & hp with maybe either a BoTRK or that tankier tiamet item (cant remember name) or even Frozen Mallet.

Best farmer in the game, but that's about it. Even if you do nothing but split push and end up levels ahead, you'll still get wrecked by high damage dealing ranged champs. She also struggles because she has no CC and her ganks are not good.

With the new blood razor if she gets ahead she is unstoppable it's the getting ahead part that hard

Perfectly average.

I'd say that Shyvana is facing two main issues at the moment:

[1] Games are often reliant on snowballing early for control over Dragons, Rift Herald and first-blood tower. Shyvana has poor early ganks due to her lack of gap-closer and CC, which often relegates her primarily to farming while the enemy jungler wrecks her team.

[2] Shyvana is rather easy to kite. Slows are extremely common at the moment due to how powerful Rylai's Crystal Scepter is on many champions and many champions have some forms of CC in their kit. Combined with the increase to damage dealt by almost every champion due to keystone masteries and penetration, she will often die very quickly without dealing much damage to the enemy team.

When I want a durable, damage-oriented jungler, I can't really justify picking Shyvana over a champion like Master Yi, Dr. Mundo, or Udyr.

I find they have similar clear times and just do her job better.

If you are trying to gank with her, you are playing her wrong. Focus on powerfarming. If Shyvana is not ahead, she is behind. If she is behind, she is useless.

I'm just going to say a few things. First if you're trying to gank with her, you're not going to do well. Shyvana isn't really built to be a ganking jungler. She's more about fast clears, early dragon, and counter jungling. YOu still can gank with her but it's somewhat harder before 6 and even with your ult you can only pull off decent ganks at most.

she's basically an auto-attacker semi-tank with no inherent cc

Yes this is all true but that doesn't mean she doesn't do a lot of damage. Her W deals AoE around her, her E can apply a debuff to do % health damage when she attacks targets, and her Q is a double auto that can basically do a lot of burst, and only with a few items so you can really build more tanky. As for lack of CC you generally want to either pick Shyv into a team comp with a lot of CC already or have your teammates pick around that after you've chosen to make up for her lack of CC, which really she does have a knockback on her ult but it's not that reliable so really only depend on it to interrupt channels.

But currently I will say that she isn't in the best spot right now, both meta-wise and just in general. With devourer gone with bloodrazor she isn't as strong as she use to be and overall she can be kited fairly easily. I'd still say try her a bit more since she's one of the easiest junglers to play but if it doesn't work out try Hecarim or Gragas.
