Cough Reliable ultimate cough

Zero mobility, so anything that gets close to him shatters him in two seconds.

Ziggs also has a huge escape and zone control in fights though, Xerath does not.

I find Xerath to be horribly designed honestly.

All he does is use his AOE laser that has no mana cost or cool down, clean waves 24/7 to the point where you can't even siege against him, and he is more overwhelming at sieging that Ziggs ever was.

He has a kit full of skillshots yet he has nothing that punishes him. Miss an ability? who cares they have barely any cool down and cost virtually no mana and he is also fighting from 800+ range.

He's the epitome of boring and non engaging play style that Riot has deemed as "Toxic" in the past and this game certainly wouldn't miss these kind of champions.

Dota actually doesn't have a problem with this because their Heroes actually have meaningful cooldowns and mana costs to prevent them from AFK wave clearing with 0 risk.

Have you even played Xerath? Everything in his kit actually has significant mana costs. The only spell cooldown that's low is Arcanopulse, which was and still is his defining feature.

His passive gives him mana generation instead of Armor for AP, which does allow him to sustain himself in the lane for a while. It's still not enough to infinitely lane without building mana generation like any other mage

Actually Ziggs is overall a better champion, he isn't punished if someone gets close to him unlike xerath who gets deleted in a instant. His ult is much more reliable and does way more damage on a larger AOE scale. His q's late game can take out 35% of a squishies health and he can dish these out every 2 seconds or so. He has more CC, more Zone, and more damage.

and are you seriously saying that xerath has better siege? Ziggs can literally disrupt a whole team and zone them where he wants to zone them just by using spells in certain areas, you guys need to learn that you don't only need to waveclear to siege.

Xerath has slightly better waveclear but ziggs has insane waveclear so it's not a huge difference, other than that ziggs is overall a better choice.

High mana costs Unrelialble ultimate No escapes "Loses" his passive after laning phase

Ziggs has better base stats, actually. Xerath does outscale him by a marginal amount, but it's extremely easy for Ziggs to snowball off of that beginning.

I still prefer ziggs for the peel he offers, but his siege is much weaker and his damage is much more inconsistent after the radius nerf on his bombs.

Xerath doesn't have Ziggs' anti-initiation. Xerath doesn't punish melee champions for being melee any harder than he does ranged, since his Q can be dodged by walking sideways, W can be dodged by moving anywhere, and E stuns for less at close range. Meanwhile Ziggs puts a big 'you cannot come past here' zone and when you do reach him he can simultaneously push you back and himself away.

Also, Xerath actually has a way to sustain his mana that puts him at risk (his crappy basic attack range), meaning that he can choose to not buy mana regen and instead get more damage, which you can avoid. Grail being OP nullifies that, though. Hopefully the preseason changes will prevent Xerath of buying his way out of his passive.

One time I laned against Xerath with new Soraka. He was quickly bullied out of lane because there was no way for him to harass without me hitting him.

Point is Xerath has a clear weakness with that q delay.

Ziggs has an escape and a more reliable ultimate. Ziggs also has a persistent zoning tool (minefield). Xerath has longer range and more damaging poke, but worse cc, worse ultimate, and no escape.
