Let's Talk Ranked, Community, and How They Tie Together

League of Legends is known for hosting one of the worst communities in any gaming atmosphere. Over the years, I have posted quite a bit about the community and their awful actions. I have made post after post about suggestions for community clean-up, requests for status updates on how that is coming along, and many other additions to the forums in hopes a Riot member would reply. Since the customer support is nearly useless and Riot seems to fund only eSports and expansion rather than the health of the players in the game, it is not surprising that posts about the community's health are quickly swept away.

Riot seems to do all it can to promote a facade over the decaying community. With fan art, to YouTube front page sponsors, etc.

I have been playing this game since pre-season 3 and I can honestly say that this community and game's health have only decayed. The community has grown, and grown more hostile, Riot became interested in only eSports and promotions, the customer service is only generic message after generic message, and the Tribunal has fallen and never been resurrected.

Recently there has been talk about a new justice system, but I have seen no such thing. I think like East Coast servers and Riot's Replay System, it is all just an empty announcement to appease the masses.

I love playing League because I love the strategy behind it. What I don't love is ending my nights of League (trying to relax) and ending up getting stressed and heated because I have been told to kill myself, called every name under the sun, and basically been told to suck everyone's dick multiple times.

Even if I don't say a word and I play with the team, one slip-up of me or the teammate and they're quick to scapegoat.

An example: I reported a guy for using racial, sexual, sexual orientation, and harassing terms. He wasn't even going to get banned. It wasn't until I emailed Riot with photos that, 2 weeks later, he was put on a 2 week punishment (of what kind, I don't know).

I'd like to actually be able to have a conversation with a Riot member that isn't going to bullshit me. And I'd like to know the status of this justice system. I'm getting really tired of getting flamed in a game I used to love. This game brings out the worst in people and it's getting old. I can't enjoy it when I have to either screen the chat or mute everyone

The first thing that needs to happen is a real team-builder type of system for ranked. People not getting the roles they want is one of the major reasons for toxicity right off the bat. The guy that has to support is just looking for reasons to get mad.

Second, we need real positive reinforcement. Like a small RP stipend every month and maybe a random skin every 3 months for people that have behaved themselves. Turn it into a competition; the top 40% of people that get commended get x reward, the top 10% get x reward. Have a leaderboard that shows people with the highest ranked commendation ratios. Maybe give a small IP bonus to people that commend other players to encourage them to find something positive about their team.

I like your ideas. I feel they are headed in the right direction. Rather than just glorifying professional players and eSports, there needs to also be a glorification of the top summoners following the summoners code. Personally I am not a fan of team builder, though I do agree that role calling is a main reason why arguments start in ranked. Though there are other reasons, such as someone picking a champion that isn't in the (professionally glorified) meta. I don't know how many times I picked Urgot mid and got flamed out. Then it happens in LCS and magically all of the people that flamed me the day before are playing Urgot because he is now "viable" solely because a pro player picked him - even though nothing changed overnight.
