Personally, as one of the few remaining Ashe players, I'd like an updated passive

On a DPS Marksman, it almost makes no sense to have a passive (with such a high cooldown) that gives a crit attack (0-100 scaling) the more you AREN'T attacking. To me, that seems ironic. Sure, you can go to lane and possibly get an early crit off, but her damage is relatively low at the beginning of the game. Other than that, it can be a good poking tool in lane but often goes unused later on in the game. I feel her kit is in a good state right now. She's a good utility ADC. I just think her passive needs a little tweaking and retuning to actually get her to be a viable pick.

imo Focus should be if she stands still her range continuously increases for next shot.

Indefinite increase. Global auto. It'd be beautiful

This isn't the worst idea I've heard all day, but it's one of the funniest. Upvoted.

I can see it now:

Ashe in base: dink... dink... dink... activates R dink... dink... dink...

Tryndamere shopping in opposing base: dink... dink... dink... FWOOOOM—THUD! dink... dink... dink...

I'd like to see her get some kind of crit stacking mechanism on it. When I think of "focus" (I think that is what her passive name is?) I think of her getting stronger while attacking the same target, since she is focusing them lol. I don't think of focus as not doing anything and getting stronger. If that where the case, my grades would be much higher.

Same here. A passive similar to Xin would be nice for her as it goes with her perma cc kit. Increase crit chance/damage on the same target?

PatMcGroyn2 votes

Or maybe she could do more damage to slowed targets.

Shield Villain3 votes

That would bee too similar to Talon's passive then.

PatMcGroyn6 votes

I don't think that's necessarily such a terrible thing. Anivia's Passive and Zac's Passive are very similar. Zyra's Passive and Kog'Maw's passive are very similar.

junglerboy161 votes

Like "every attack against the same target increases her critical strike chance until she critically strikes, at which point her critical chance reverts to her base amount switching targets loses all current stacks"? or more like "every attack against the same target increases her critical strike chance (max 100%), switching targets loses all current stacks"?

I could go with that kind of thing, but it would kill her lane poke entirely and change her from a poke champion into a long drawn out skirmisher, when Varus already fills that same style through his blight stacks.

problem with this is that this is pretty much cait's passive. thematically cait and ashe should switch passives (snipers aim better when concentrating and waiting/ archers aim better and hit better when they shoot more arrows)

Nucleophilic atk2 votes

Not exactly...I guess it would be more so like Twitch's/Warwick's (subsequent AA against a target deal additional damage), only with a crit mechanic instead of a couple true damage/magic damage.

Focus, in the context of her passive, refers to her focusing her aim, so the longer she takes to aim, the higher the chance she'll hit where she wants, hence increased critical strike chance per few seconds. It doesn't mean she's doing nothing. Maybe in the game she's doing "nothing" but you have to think about it from a non-gameplay point of view.

ZGM Dazzling2 votes

Ok well that does not make it useful especially with all the crit chance you build on ADCs anyway

8yVkmwxq0D1 votes

I know, I wasn't commenting on the usefulness of the passive, just correcting his interpretation of the word "focus" in this specific context.

humjack25 votes

I think it would be cool (perhaps a tad OP in lane) if Focus's mechanics just ignored minions completely.

"Focus:

If Ashe has not attacked a champion in the last 3 seconds, she gains 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 Focus stacks per second. At 100 stacks, Ashe will critically strike on her next basic attack against a champion. Thereafter, Focus stacks will reset to an amount equal to her critical strike chance."

The existing numbers could be tweaked if this is too oppressive in lane. Ashe players wouldn't feel punished for attacking minions, while still keeping the original theme of the passive.

Slushi Simcambi3 votes

This was the exact idea I had!

Another alternative would be she stacks focus on minions, but that would make her to similar to Cait so that's out...

WarlockLaw2 votes

how about gaining 4/5/6/7/8 stacks whenever she slows enemies, allowing her to stack her passive with her q and think about it, it's easier to hit a slower target

Slushi Simcambi1 votes

That makes sense to me!

just give ashe Kalista's passive she will be golden.

Anddddddd that would be toxic as crap against any champ who doesnt have a decent gap closer.

its a joke i hate that fukin passive of kalista should never have been invented

on a doom bot sure but not on a legit champion.

I've been saying that Ashe needs a minor buff lately - I'd like to see the cooldown on her E come down quite a bit, so she can bring some super awesome vision control that isn't once every minute or two.

New passive: Crit damage increases upon consecutive auto-attacks (idk, might be op but who gives a duck)

DestructoDave5 votes

They could start by reversing it; attacking actually stacks the passive.

What if it reversed at a certain level, like level 11 maybe? or perhaps it could stack similar to statikk shiv via movement.

ForPortal3 votes

That's Caitlyn's passive, not Ashe's.

Passive: chilling aim, ashe builds up 1% critical whenever she is not attacking for 5/4/3 seconds, building up to 100% critical chance. Additionally, ashe builds 5% critical chance whenever she attacks a slowed target.

NorthernDruid3 votes

Even just a slight buff like shortening the cooldown to 2 seconds would make a huge difference in how good it'll feel.

Lyokocoder123 votes

I would be perfectly fine if all they did was make her passive give her 15 - 25% crit chance. It would make up for her poor base damage.

Mandaari3 votes

It's amazing that I've seen several highly upvoted Ashe threads since Kalista's launch alone and not one has had a Riot response.

MonkeyKing wu's is not useful at all in laning phase

Do you have an enemy laner? Congrats, your passive is doing something.

Are you instead a jungler? Congrats, if you're ganking at all then your passive is doing something.

Rubber Jesus3 votes

Let's switch her passive with Zed's passive. She gets some execute ability since she has low base damage, and Zed doesn't get to blow everyone up in mid since the mana regen nerf.

^^ That was J/K. But seriously, it needs to be reworked. You can't use it in laning phase because cs-ing minions disables it, and in teamfights you only get your first crit guaranteed, and it takes a long time to build up to the next one. Seriously, Focus at max level is 8 stacks per second. So at 50% crit chance, you need 50 stacks to reach 100. That is 6.25 seconds without AA during a teamfight to get a second crit on her passive at max level. Mid game with 40% crit chance and 6 Focus stacks, it would take 10 seconds of not AA to get a second crit from her passive. You have to cs in lane, so it is worthless there most of the time as well.

Meanwhile Caitlyn gets "Every 8/7/6 basic attacks, Caitlyn will fire a headshot dealing 150% damage to a champion or 250% damage to a minion." Plus a snare and a jump to escape. Caitlyn is definitely not OP from this, and Ashe could some work to be viable on this level, too. I think Riot can do better and give her passive some love. Hopefully they check some ideas here, and keep the rest of her kit the same. We don't need any 'compensation' or 'reworks', but I do enjoy Ashe but feel like her passive is holding her back from being viable. I can't remember the last time I've seen an Ashe do great in SR, decent sure, but not great.

I've thought about these. I agree, indefinitely, with the Eagle Scout buff. She needs a lower cooldown on that. Quinn's scout has a lower cd than Eagle Scout. And the passive idea - I could see that but also note that it would probably be WAY too overpowered. Since her Q is a perma slow, she can easily get more proc's off and it'd scale way too well. I think they should just change it entirely into something less stale and something more useful.

ForPortal2 votes

The current skill would be okay if it triggered a lot faster. It should be a skill that encourages holding your fire until you're ready to last hit a minion, but you're not going to wait 3 seconds plus another 12-24 seconds between last hits. Make it fast enough that she can charge it up as she last hits minions, but slow enough that it does less DPS than just standing and shooting.

Sammystorm2 votes

It makes her the best level 1 adc in the game. However at pretty much every other point of the game it is pretty bad.

gubigubi2 votes

I do really like support ashe its probably my fav support to play as. But ya that passive is not very good as an adc.

BallisticMouse2 votes

If you want to use her passive you, more than likely, have to miss cs. It's a stupid passive and needs to be changed.

Philleapa2 votes

What if her passive was changed to auto attacking a slowed target reduces all your cool downs by .5 seconds or even .25 seconds

PatMcGroyn1 votes

Agreed completely, her passive right now is uninteresting and encourages periods of non- activity. It would be cool if her passive ramped up with either attacks or movement (or both), similar to Statik Shiv. Especially considering she's supposed to be a kiting Marksmen, rewarding constant attacking somehow would provide much more satisfying gameplay.

Rubber Jesus1 votes

Maybe it could stack faster, but instead of movement speed like Shiv, make it based on slowed targets? When targets are slowed, the numbers move up quickly, similar to how Shiv moves up quickly during fast movements. This would give her some damage during kiting, and execute ability during chasing.

Kuroi861 votes

Early on it's mostly just good for a single crit of harass when you get back into lane. Later on it's good for going between skirmishes. Though to be honest, I wish the cooldown on it would decrease as you level up so you could stack it faster between skirmishes.

junglerboy161 votes

Her passive is how they tried to make her fit as a support. in a support build, if you get tear into Muramana (which stacks unbelievably fast because your Q procs it twice pre attack) you deal absurd poke early game because of the free crit. If they want her to be a full fledged ADC, then I agree it needs an update, but if they turn her into a utility+poke support, then keeping some manifestation of her current passive would actually be quite good.

DEmperor951 votes

I honestly like her passive a lot. Early game it's really weak I know, because you won't crit as often. Later in the game though, after completing IE and Shiv, you have guaranteed crits that melt at least half the HP of any enemy squishy. It's very useful for skirmishing and poking, and it comes back up really fast.

But maybe tweaking it a bit to make it a bit more reliable and useful especially early game, but keeping the same mechanic would be a good idea.

Sooko1 votes

Snap Freeze

Ashe's basic attacks to enemies afflicted with frost related slows deal 10% more damage (doubled by crits)

Frost related slows: Anivia's Q and R Ashe's Q and R Braum's Q and R Lissandra's Q and R Nunu's E and R Sejuani's E and R Trundle's E Rylai's Frozen Mallet

I think this would give her decent synergy with more Freljordian Champions but not making her completely dependant on her team comp, since two of her abilities can also proc her passive.

Krys Star1 votes

I've always felt her passive should stack at half or one third the rate during combat. Majority of the time, you have no control of it and will waste it last hitting a minion since people tend to back off when your passive rings up
