Bard, a change to his heal

So these changes are going to overall buffs, but mainly for the late game healing, have it be more rewarding and feel like it is doing something for when it ripens into a beautiful flowery shrine thing. So these changes I will present are specifically for the late game, whether these changes make the ripen heal weaker in the early game the late game will be better which is where it feels super lack luster / takes a little long to ripen in the late game.

Caretaker's Shrine (W): Heal 30/60/90/120/150(+20%AP) plus 50% movement speed that decays over 1.5 seconds. [unchanged]

Ripen Heal change from an additional 40/50/60/70/80(+25%AP) to 4/5/6/7/8%(+1% per 75AP) of the unit's maximum health. Time to Ripen reduce to 10/9/8/7/6 seconds from 10 seconds at all ranks.

So straight forward, faster ripen time in the late game for more empowered healing plus a % heal instead of flat heal just to add to the uniqueness of the heal shrines / flowers having to be fully bloomed and less being like a normal heal that is on the ground, while the on unit heal is exactly the same, the empowered heal being stronger and more unique will have players wait for the heal to bloom before picking it up because it be more impactful and meaningful when between bloomed not bloomed.

P.S. Bard is very fun to play as, especially in terms of him being very relaxing. Once he is finally picked up then his ultimate will need to get nerfed immediately, but until then he can get some nice tweaks, changes, and buffs in the meantime to other things.

I'll settle for the reduced time on his shrines. Having to wait 10 seconds is a long time especially in the late game when nobody is laning.

I do agree that bards shrines don't feel that significant outside of laning phase. I mostly just see them used as a cheap speed boost placed directly on their targets. More shrines, greater heals, reduced ripening, a greater speed boost when ripened. There needs to be something that makes his w more satisfying.

i guess there could be like 75% movement speed for ripen flowers and 50% for non-ripen; i was just thinking in terms of making his ripen flower better and easier to come across late game even if it means they take a small hit early game

+1 I support this.

Okay, I'll leave.

This buff is a little much, Bards heals are unique in the sense they can be placed on the map. They're teemo shroom that heal. Because this is a late game buff it might actually be too much is what I'm saying.

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

I honestly see no problem with buffing the heal late game in some way, because his heals are just used for the movement speed because the heal is tiny when just used on someone instantly and people move around so much late game that its impossible to keep a shrine in one place without an enemy killing it or and ally stepping on it before they need the heal.

Maybe they could add a passive to his ult that increases the max number of shrines he can place so it increases to 4/5/6 with each rank of his ultimate. It would improve the healing if you stacked them in a row and it would allow you to be a bit more creative with your shrines like Teemo and you could plan ahead and leave them in areas that could help an ally escape from someone or get that burst of health that lets them just beat an enemy.

BuzzinTate1 votes

you have to look at it mainly that his shrines are reverse teemo ults. If he was able to place more than 3 then he could literally just spend his time farming chimes the whole game without needing to be in lane at all.

ok that's probably a little bit of an exaggeration but it's how I feel towards bard. Bard is a defensive support with limited aggro. He has a stun, and his autos slow. You CAN use him to be aggro and it usually does work out for him, im not saying he cant be aggro. Im saying he's more suited to be defensive.

Stacona1 votes

Actually bard is a very aggressive team orientated support, and has infinite late game scaling thanks to his passive which is a god tier spell in general especially for supports in the late game where you get super peel and damage from it

Stacona1 votes

Well i set it up so that the on target heal is the same, but the shrine blooming heal is weaker early and stronger later (ranged champions get over 1k health at like level 8+ or something) so the % heal is a buff past 1000 health and early game you plant the shrines by your turret anyways so you always have 3 fully bloomed shrines in the early game- which is why i think none of these changes buffs his early game sustain especially since a % value makes the early game heal slightly weaker

Stacona1 votes

its also an early game nerf to the heals

Tengrichan3 votes

Why do you want to make him too strong?Leave Bard alone.

Stacona1 votes

he won't be too strong ... at all... early game goes down, late game goes up

besides, we do small buffs, once he gets played, then we can nerf his overpowered ultimate - but you cannot nerf aspects of a champion that doesn't even get played (by this, it means low play rate)

I think it'd be nice if the time to ripen the heal scaled down with ranks in Bard's ult. it seems like a good way to level off his power

Once he is finally picked up then his ultimate will need to get nerfed immediately,

lmao, no

I agree with this. Caretaker's Shrine needs time to charge up in the laning phase, otherwise it's just too easy an on-demand heal, but later on it's impossible to really use to its full potential due to how shrines either take way too long to charge in combat, or just can't be placed in advance with the best accuracy. Reducing the charge duration by something like 3 seconds per rank could encourage Bard to lay down shrines a little bit ahead of champions in need for them to put to full use much later on.

Stacona1 votes

most people will put 1 to 2 points in his heal and then max his Q- so early game won't have some obscure healing, not to mention the cooldown is still a flat 12 seconds at all ranks so its not like more heals come out and % heal means weaker early game naturally

Stacona1 votes

well the spell does not have significant power to leveling currently past rank 2- and i think a quicker ripen time will only effect is late game full bloom flowers rather than buff his early to mid game since the ripen time will be the same early game and mid game you throw down shrines as you farm chimes and ward

I'd just like it if they balanced the numbers between no charge and full charge. The base AP ratio should be 0.3 instead of 0.2.

Because the rate at which the base increases and the rate at which the AP ratio increses over time is heavly skewed.

as an avid bard player I'd love to see his heal charge up faster when ranking it up. I can't remember the exact number but I think it's like 10 seconds currently. Even if its reduced to 5-7 seconds at ranked 5 it'd be a big help instead of waiting on a near 30 seconds to set them up before a fight

Stacona1 votes

i stated that it is 10 seconds - my idea is 10/9/8/7/6 seconds - the growing up time should be reduced for the late game and gives more reason to max the spell

shteeeb1 votes

That's an insanely huge buff.

Just give it larger MS boost duration per rank, scaling up to like, 2 seconds at rank 5.

Stacona1 votes

i find the uniqueness of the spell is the blooming heal aspect to it, the movement speed is a nice touch however; i am emphasizing what i think the spell is for, let it grow up to give big heals and if you spam it you get a good movement speed bonus and a tiny heal

still, it nerfs the sustain of bard early game to give him a better heal late game; so there is still thought out balancing to it rather than be a direct buff

nothing needs changing about bard right now.

his heals aren't what matters. his teamfight potential with Q e and R are his focus. bard doesn't need anything right now. a good bard will carry a game hard as it is. buff him more and you risk riot deciding to azir him.

when i say azir him, i mean repeatedly nerf everything that made him unique until he feels so unfun to play that most people give up on him

Stacona1 votes

E is a roaming spell - Q is powerful right now - passive is his bread and butter spell so farm that thing up - ultimate is a little strong right now but nothing we can do about it until Bard truly gets played

Azir is insanely overpowered right now, you are drugged out thinking Azir is weak at the moment

my changes nerfs the heal early game to make it a better heal late game, click on heals will be identical as they are now

I rather the shrines had a stacking mechanics, so I can rapidly place down 3 like Gangplank barrels.

I don't want the heal itself buffed because the heal is plenty strong for the type of heal that it is.

Stacona1 votes

nah, the cooldown is better balance wise rather than stacks so it emphasizes the placement and growing up the flowers need to do

Quort1 votes

I feel like Bard is the type of Champion that will keep getting buffed until everyone suddenly realizes how powerful he has become and then he will be gutted. :|

Stacona1 votes

his ultimate needs nerfs, but until then we can give him small buffs

RottedApples1 votes

just do missing health and it will be fine. I'm worried about a max health heal being a little ridiculous.

Stacona1 votes

missing health doesnt do anything since it has to grow up - % health is weaker early, stronger later - no point in the game will you get absurd heals it just will be better late game than it is now where i feel like bard is a hyper support

A Miss Fortune1 votes

I want Bard's shrines to just give mana when it reaches It's maximum potential. No mana-giving Supports after Soraka, would be interesting to see a feature like that added to Bard.

Stacona1 votes

i doubt they would do that every again- and he has mana back from chimes, quite a bit of mana back- so bard has a lot of sustain for himself

Zac x Me1 votes

I'd say having the number of healing pads on the map increased to 5 from 3 should suffice as a nice buff, IF EVEN.

He already is perfect and his heal is ok-ish, it's more of a mini-ghost buff for allies in sticky situations and doesn't really need to be a stronger heal imo.

Bard already got a lot of buffs recently which I found really unneeded.

5 healing pads and E granting assists if enemies travel through it should make him strong enough if not even a bit too strong.

Stacona1 votes

He does get assist for healing people - more shrines at a time seem like a really overpowered mechanic, what i am doing is buffing their late game and toning back their early game
