How Would Y'all Feel About a Skirmisher Class Update?

So first thing you might be thinking is "Wait, what about the Diver update?" Yeah, takes priority before the idea I have here, but I want to throw it out.

Let's face it, people don't tend to like skirmishers.

So far, the skirmishers we (officially) have in League include: Yasuo Fiora Riven Tryndamere MasterYi Ekko Jax

Champions that are part skirmisher include: Gangplank Considered a battle mage Jayce Considered an artillery mage Graves Considered a marksman

A lot of these champion have gained a negative reputation, which is most prominent in the boards. Yasuo, Tryndamere, Jayce, and Graves aren't exactly loved by the community as much as Riot seems to love them.

Why should we have a Skirmisher update? As I said, people just don't like some skirmishers. An update could open up paths for these champions to become less hated (Jayce), be less binary (Jax), or just be less unfun for those fighting them (Yasuo). Class updates aren't just for fixing (or breaking, sorry Malz) champions or making them fresh, it can make champions be better received by the community. Which is why this idea popped into my head. But, who gets reworks?

#Potential Large Reworks:

As Yasuo stands in his current state, people have fun playing the guy, but dread having to face him. While most complaints lean towards "omg delete Yasuo" and don't get much further, it seems that the main reasons people don't like wind man is his crit passive and his wind wall. My ideas and recommendations for the rework?

  • Don't keep his current crit passive. Make Yasuo a crit scaling skirmisher, but don't have him get double crit. Think "why do ADCs buy crit so much?" and apply that to Yasuo, ...just without him getting such good benefits.
  • Rework or replace his Wind Wall. People don't like the ability, and yes it DOES have counter play, but it isn't always clear as sky (lel). If Wind Wall isn't reworked and is instead replaced, keep the idea of Yasuo having some way to evade damage, without making him too untouchable.

Jax is a champion that hasn't aged too poorly throughout League. But he has his issues, such as being a rather binary champion as well as looking like a shriveled-up eggplant. Jax is the grandmaster at arms, and he functions well as a duelist. That stays, he's meant to be a duelist who can beat you up with anything. So concerning Jax:

  • Keep his AD/AP scalings. He's meant to be able to use any weapon, having these scalings keep that fantasy.
  • Give him more interesting tools to work with. He already has ward jumping, but he could use more to make him fancier when avoiding damage, instead of just pressing a button and walking around.
  • Give the man an actual model! He may/may not need a voice update like how Maokai is getting one, but at least make him look like he did in the "A New Dawn" cinematic.

Lastly is Fiora, a more-so personal choice. Fiora's the Grand Duelist. You shouldn't be able to 1v1 her easily (Sorry for those who are salty after a game, Howling Abyss 1v1s can wait). Fiora could deliver strongly on her archetype, making her a bit more slippery and still a good tank-shredder, so she can lean a bit closer to being a skirmisher.

  • Fiora's vitals passive is a bit RNG. It would be interesting if Fiora is able to use an ability or her basic attacks to expose an enemy's vitals and then wear them down that way. Would prevent poor vital placement and might make it so that laning against Fiora isn't zoning out laners just because a vital is there.
  • Strange idea, but what if Fiora's Riposte would only block CC coming at her from the direction she aims the ability? Would mean more for her being a 1v1 champion, because I imagine getting hit in the back by a Morgana snare isn't usually part of a duel (And it's a bit illogical to somehow block an ability from behind)
  • Her ult. It makes sense, except for the fact that Fiora heals her team with it too. Why would the duelist have anything like that to help her team? She should focus more on making duels and picks and not on healing her team.

#Potential Smaller Reworks:

MasterYi is also fairly binary. Some small changes (like the passive + ult changes he received a while ago) could make him less of a curb-stomper in lower ELOs and a bit better in higher ones.

Jayce isn't well-loved. We know that much, at least. He's meant to be an artillery mage, but it would be a bit better if he had more damaged focused on his hammer form while his cannon form provided the set-up for him to blow up your 0/11 Vayne who decided that her 6 boots and mid-lane were a good match.

#Who Shouldn't be Heavily Affected:

Ekko received his changes back in the pre-season Assassin update. And since then I haven't heard of the cancer that is Tankko or him being overbearing. He's in a good spot right now IMO. (Y'all like numbers, so for reference his win rate is 50.14%, and his play rate is 7.31%)

Riot's reasoning for not including Malphite and Rammus in the Tank/Vanguard update is that they couldn't get great ideas for them and they wanted to wait until their VGUs to change them. This could go for Tryndamere as well. Unless Riot finds something really good that he should get with this update, they should just wait for his VGU.

Well, that ends it for me. What ideas did y'all have for who should get updated and what changes there should be? Did you even like the idea of a skirmisher update? Make sure to make your thoughts known.

You should make a 4th voting option for deleting Yasuo :3

I think Jax falls into the diver class if I remember correctly? Who by the way probably need the work more..

Jax, Xin, Wu etc. They all could do with some work alot more.

Also, shouldn't be able to 1v1 Fiora so easily??? What are you smoking lol, there are very few champs that can once she has a few items..

Sorry if that came across aggressive.. You do raise some good points as well :)

I would be fine with a update to Riven AS LONG as they keep her fun to play, combo oriented playstyle.

Rito breaks the game for multiple patches anytime they update a class, as a support main I'm dreading the update that breaks my class in order to "make it more fun" they're already planning changes for janna, nami, and soraka that I'm really not looking forward to.

Kled (and Skaarl) is a skrimisher too, but he's too new for a rework.

Mostly class update are aimed at giving champions unique identity and giving a class relevance in the game once again.

Most of the champions you've named aside from Yi have been solid and fair picks for the longest while so I'm not sure why you would need to update these guys.

you point's are good, but:

Fiora in terms of expectations and results, fiora is almost 100% yes, she doesn't have a great lane phase yes, she win sometimes but overall is not that strong, however once she get her first Item, good luck and better you know what you doing when 1x1 her. overall, Fiora just need adjust, after all she is stronger right now, maybe a bit to much. yes the RNG is not that nice, but it's ok. and she is already bad at team fights, please notice that there's a thing called ARAM, you too balance team, do you know what lux is doing now? and Sona?

Yasuo yes he needs, to be a bit more decent choice, and have a more clear window of weakness, like Rumble has. he also need buff for some match-up, and nerf for others. for me, he can kept the wind wall and the double crit, is the shield and dashes that annoys me. would be nicer if his was a roaming champion, the wanderer samurai who gonna cut you into pieces.

Jax he is kind of ok, doesn't do much against some team comps, but he is a "sharpshooter" nightmare. I don't know what he needs, but being more POP is one thing he needs. and the fact he is not great against mages, just make sense to me. he is a weapons master, nobody is good as he is using weapons, unless they have spend half-life time learning how to use one.

Jayce honestly? he is kind of fine... is just sometime he is overbearing, and is hard to understand his kit and weaknesses, but that is all.

MasterYi I like how he is simple, yet harder to master. maybe a bit more changes, but I don't think a much complex kit is the answer. yes, he need to be better at high ranks (level of play) but, he doesn't need to be complex. in fact he is good as starter champion, along side with Warwick they both have simple, yet harder to master kits.
