While Riven & Darius are really specific examples for your thread, they are champions that aren't as strong as they once were, however, if you're a lower-ELO player, rest assured you can still hard-carry with them, actually, with pretty much all Top-laners.
Want to beat Malphite/Ryze with Riven? Max E, learn when to punish your lane opponent. If players like BoxBox/flosd can do it, nothing but excuses are the answer as to why you can't.

Box Box is the cheesiest Riven ever, I don't think you should take a model from him, not everyone is gonna get baited or feed vs Riven.

his only problem is that he's effectively as squishy as a carry, but when you play like a mage, carry and fighter combined, it's pretty fun
for instance, building for crit damage, you can hit for up to 1300 on a critical and in ranged form, gain maximum attack speed
but the builds and damage vary
it's really fun to "bring down the hammer" though on minions doing insane crit damage XD
Ixoziel1 votesEh, Irelia and Darius are fine thanks to their mixed damage. Darius can easily 1v1 a malphite at 6 unless you have some awful build. Irelia can do decent damage to malph with her true damage.
Fiora, though ... playing her now is just depressing. I feel like mosquito trying to bite an elephant when i hit malphite.
I suck at Riven (though I love playing her) so can't really comment there.

Riven and Irelia are the two strongest tops in the game right now for solo queue. Darius is a lane bully against pretty much everyone top. Nasus is always relevant late game no matter who you put against him.
