Is a game that is fun to watch fun to play?

Since it is common knowledge that Riot balances the game to keep the professional scene exciting to watch, the question has to be begged - is that necessarily more fun to play?

Personally I don't think so. I started playing league because it was tactical instead of fast twitch. I was never good at street fighter or mortal combat but I have always enjoyed games like civilization, starcraft, and tactical rpgs. I enjoyed that league rewarded good decision making rather than "big plays" and "combos". I enjoyed out thinking my opponent rather than out keyboarding them.

That is just my opinion though, and I'm curious to find out if I'm the minority there. If this is the preferred direction of league, then it really wont be my cup of tea for much longer, but if there is a large part of the community that feels like i do, it might be worth it to stick around a while and see if things swing back around.
