And divers can function as wardens when the need arises.

Prove me wrong on why this whole "sub-class" fiasco holds any substance or merit apart from conditioning players into a specific behaviour instead of just utilising the mechanics and numbers they have in accordance to what they can and have to do in order to win.

If you have an Akali bursting your ADC over and over again and you play Vi, you don't dive the enemy ADC, you protect yours. If you don't have any serious backline threats and you play Shen, you go deep and control the front line.

Simple as that. The roles are completely meaningless.

Just because you're more specialized for a certain task doesn't mean you can't do anything else. Sion is a vanguard, but I peel with him. Alistar is a Warden, but I can and often do engage with him.

Subclasses just give a better idea of how that champion is balanced.

Why are you bothered by that?

Because they don't give an idea on how a champion is balanced, they just give Riot an alibi for their tiered balancing.

Want to nerf something? Just call them a Warden, want to buff it? Just call it a juggernaut.

dota2's categorization does a MUCH better job in every way, telling what the champion does and not what they are.

So in Dota2, League mages would be called assassins and assassins would be called "assassinate you over 3 seconds because counterplay" hehe xd

dota2 goes by what heroes do, i.e nuker if they're bursty, disabler for CC bots, initiator, support, carry, etc.

league's "class" designation makes more sense for an MMO, it's extremely restrictive for the majority of champs and IMO is why a lot of the new ones are completely same-y. btw notice how the mages are still just one big umbrella group and how they get the most """fun""" variety of abilities

No, vanguard is a tanky initiator. Diver is a semi-tanky initiator with more sustained dmg than a tanky one.

A distinction that no one ever needed and that everyone with a double digit IQ can understand without those terms.

I think the hunt for the blood moon mode gave the most proof the classes dont matter other than putting champs in categories. Master yi was an assassin not in an assassin only game mode while yas is a fighter(skirmisher if we wanna go by subclasses) and was playable.

Honestly not sure why they advertised it as an assassin only game mode when they had some non assassins.

Guess they wanted an excuse to avoid all fighters.

There were also a few assassins that were left out. But rumbles another good example riot says hes a battlemage in there subclass list (i agree with this actually) but in the client hes a fighter.

Yea but they always called rumble a battle mage and a fighter. But battle mage is a subclass of the mage class. Its not a huge deal and i dont care too much its just some things makes it look like riot doesnt actually care about classes.
