How to stop ADC Lethality builds

Shahamut··7 votes·3,672 views

Make Duskblade Melee only.

You don't need to change all of them, just the one. There are only 3 items that grant Lethality, having access to only 2 of them will make it a far less appealing stat for Marksmen. Not to mention it limits who can get the true vision passive and bonus dmg proc (Vayne? wth!?)

Do this pls RIOT

Lethality is a joke on ADCs. See how much lethality an item provides? That's how much Flat armor pen you get against someone who is level 18. Good job, you threw away your late game on items that don't give you an early game anymore

its more like 60 armor pen against a level 18 enemy. But that doesnt really change the fact duskblade is beyond a shit item now and only edge of night is really useful anymore.

Late game lethality items are better than before, but until that point theyre just a kind of delayed powerspike. youre better off building crit for that guranteed powerspike then scrapping for your penetration items 40 minutes in.

If you build 60 lethality in total, than yes, it is.

... No its not. Let me let you in on a little secret; Lethality is a unique passive AND scales on your opponents level. Lethality is NOT armor pen 1 to 1; lethality gets more effective the higher level your opponent is.

Lethality 20 = 8 penetration vs lvl 1 opponent-------- 20 penetration vs lvl 18 opponent

let me tell YOU something. There is a formula for how it works. Every time you put the amount of lethality on an item into that formula and set it against a level 18 opponent, the armor pen is always equal to the amount of lethality on the item. So I say again, Lethality on ADCs is a joke.

Why restrict it though? Are marksman doomed forever for only building crit, lifesteal and %pen? Unless it's really busted we shouldn't restrict items just because some marksmen can utilize them effetivly

Cause if you lose lane to a Jhin/Lucian or MF in current times, their super damage and armor pen items make them deal true damage...and quite a lot of it.

The problem with those two is Black Cleaver though, not the flat pen items.

A few can use it more readily, ANY adc can use the duskblade passive by simply walking back for one second then returning.

An on hit true damage proc and a ward clearing passive should be restricted. Thats the way I see it anyway.

Vayne is just the worst case, you should check out Phylol on youtube and let him show you how bad it is.

But anyone can do it. MF would be really good with it too. Cast E, AA (love tap, +duskblade, +sheen, +shiv) its a crap ton of burst for a single AA and when you put it on ANY adc with a skill they can activate first. Step into brush, you know its warded even if duskblades passive is down because you wont get the true damage proc after one second. If its not warded, pop out of bush and deal true damage. Wash rinse repeat.

Jayce is going to be a nightmare with this item.

If we went by videos Phylol made of PBE content, we'd have to believe that Rageblade Vayne, Triforce Vayne, Rageblade Trist, and Hurricane Lucian are all overpowered builds. He loves to use new builds, and as a result he'll massively overhype unique builds, regardless of their actual strength. He can do this because he's good enough to make literally anything work against PBE opponents.

For the record, I've played Duskblade Vayne on the PBE. It's mediocre. You end up losing damage because you had to wait a full second in between autoattacks to make it work.

Or, you could just keep hitting someone, and do more damage because you'reactually maximizing your dps. That also has the benefit of not forcing you to fight in an unwarded, bush heavy area and tanking your damage whenever you don't.

MF can use the build because she's extremely focused on ability damage, but that's not a bad thing. She's not like other AD carries, so there's no reason to force her into a cookie-cutter ADC build.

Most ADCs couldn't care less about the passive damage on that item since they can only use it once in a fight. It won't even make a tiny difference.

I think the argument is why punish the many for the acts of the few. There having to change so much just because of the few who can utilize it.

Instead of killing off the diversity of armor pen builds, balance it instead. It's not hard.
