Unwritten toplane rule #1: If you see renekton picked you can almost always assume it's an autofill hoping for an easy lane. Some were even dumb enough to pick him into jayce. Same applies to tanks. If they main tanks and toplane well i can't say anything about it or i get banned from boards again.

while it is true renekton is a rather easy champ to Play with his linear and small combo Counter, i still hold back on calling him braindead. renekton actually requires good gameknowledge and strong management into transitioning lategame. earlygame he is a beast, but as the game goes on he grows more and more useless since he will Need tanky items to stay alive + his only utility spell is his W stun, which is single target only.

I am happy you managed to safe face with him, but that doesn't make him op or braindead.
