Normal games are still in Match History for you and your friends. We're phasing them out from the general public to continue to encourage normal queues being a more relaxed, for fun atmosphere.

In football, it'd be the difference between a club match and a pickup game. In the club match, both stats and the game outcome are recorded and made publicly available. But with pickup games, while you're still trying to win, it's much more laid back.

One specific case we wanted to avoid is 3rd party websites and services that try to aggregate normal game stats and winrates over time. We don't want players to feel pressured or insecure to try out new champions and playstyles in normal games because it might affect their macro stats and perception."

Essentially, I'm screwed out of ever having a GG in Normals anymore. Why? Because ALREADY I only get 1/10 games being a game I can actually call a GG, because it doesn't have:

  • An Afk
  • A troll
  • someone who gives up within the first 30 seconds to 5 minutes of gameplay
  • people who are just so apathetic I question why they even queue'd in the first place, as they act like they don't want to play

And now you basically want to get everyone a free pass to troll, grief and otherwise make the game a 20 minute snoozefest in the name of "fun"? Already most of the ranked players that come into a Normal pass off any wrongdoing on their part as "it's a normal bro!" like somehow that excuses being toxic and wasting everyone's time.

Normals are the only thing I play, since every time I've stepped into ranked it's just stressful and even more toxic, and Normals have steadily got worse. And now you're seriously trying to turn it into the screw-around mode every game and give anyone who trolls a free pass?

What the heck does Bots exist for then?

What the heck does ARAM exist for?

I'm not sure "we don't have a tank, gg!" in champ select then feeding first blood by standing still (not lag, they just didn't give a damn within the first 30 seconds of the game) and DC'd counts as "fun". Just a colossal waste of everyone else's time.

They said it is a place to relax, not troll, there is a difference.

Basically what they truly mean is that they don't want no one to tryhard in normal. I guess it's an effort to curb the negativity and stress, but I think that players that used to play normals to train will be more nervous than ever.

Wait, so they make stats from normals only visible to friends and you assume this is going to cause all these ripple effects? Or are you more basing your judgement on Riot saying that normals should be a more relaxed atmosphere (which it should be and is) then what was actually done like millions of people are going to read that comment that Rioter said and assume it's a trolling paradise because it's a game mode called "normals" that isn't centralized on what rank you are? It seems like the latter and that you are overreacting. Not to mention you are saying that ARAM is a place where people should go to troll and I've seen plenty of people post that specifically play that mode only and wouldn't want any trolls in there either. Trolls aren't wanted anywhere as a matter of fact and saying a game mode shouldn't be taken as serious as a ranked game mode isn't going to promote it and is actually implied it is a more relaxed have fun mode by the name of it.

Whenever I see, "ranked is just too stressful and toxic" I just imagine the person never played sports as a kid or was picked last in dodgeball every game.

dont want to play competitive? stick to normals or draft pick normals

want to play casually? stick to normals or the other game modes.

its about time riot addresses that normals is where you need to go for nonsense
