"NB3 is quitting! It's a sign of the end!"

Have you people ever considered people might quit because they've spent nearly a decade spamming the same game hours and hours day after day after day? You ever think that may have something to do with it? Maybe just a little?

Maybe he quit because his stream is barely a fraction of what it used to be and his YouTube views are spiraling down because the only content he releases is pure garbage? How many gold smurfs can he make clickbait on before getting bored? I mean he's gotta be on like his 30th one by now. I'd imagine pubstomping noobs could only be fun for so long.

This whole "the end is upon us!" reaction is pretty histarical. You think he's the first well known player to quit the game or something? Weird how the game didn't die after all those other ones quit

I think the issue isn't simply that NB3 is leaving, but that a host of popular streamers and League content creators have either quit around this time, or openly announced that they've fell out of love with the game. Sure, Nightblue leaving isn't a major event in isolation, and there are plenty of other valid reasons why he'd switch to another game, but then you have content creators like Sp4zie, Dyrus, Sneaky, etc. all saying they'd rather play something else, and so specifically because they don't find the current state of League enjoyable. Sp4zie in particular has been a figurehead for positivity in League's community, and is good friends with many Rioters in person, so him leaving really isn't just a matter of burnout. When you look at the current landscape for League's content creation, previous leaders have stepped down, and the bulk of it now boils down to pro streams on Twitch, with youtubers far behind in terms of views. Even if NB3's departure isn't a problem in itself, it is nonetheless part of a larger phenomenon where League's community representation has gone down, and where many of its most prominent figures are collectively not enjoying the game as much, for very similar and specific reasons relevant to this season.

Nope, not a viable answer, people need to do the same thing day in and day out 8 plus hours a day nearly every day for 8+ years straight and can't get bored ever, if they do, clearly game dead.

just want to say i'm sure nb3 will be back at one point

i'm playing since 2010 and between 2014 and 2016 i played dota2 but then came back to league

i'm sure with few years of rest he will want to come back to play league

TBH this is a gigantic cop out.

I’ve seen this same thing said over and over again

The thing is, unless they say so, you dont KNOW that it’s because they’re burnt out, you’re just assuming, especially in cases that the person themselves says different.

You’re basically doing the equivalent of walking into a gym, seeing a guy squat 500 for reps and going “yup steroids”

Could it be steroids? Sure, but that shouldn’t be the default assumption when everything else says otherwise

It’s human nature to VERY LIKELY be sick of nearly a decade of the same task over and over again.

That’s true for some things not all.

I can work out every day and not get burnt out(emotionally)

I could snowboard all day every day and not get burnt out.

Hell, if it was season 3 of league and another patch never came out I could play it forever and never tire of it.

The thing about tiring of repetition is that it differs from activity to activity and person to person.

It is also true that activities with high variability are harder to tire of, and between different champion classes, item builds, metas/strats, ingame variability and the like, no two games of league are really the same, so because of that I’m hard pressed to say league is an easy game to tire of.

I find it much more likely that people are frustrated with changes to the game because 1. They said so and 2. It is also human nature to be resistant to change (hello element Drake’s, plants, jungle rework, adc item cost changes, baron, catchup cup, global kill gold etc)

He left because fortnite gets more viewers

Pretty sure it's purely a business choice for NB3 at this point. Why play a game that has a million restrictions on it when you can play a game that has 0?

i never actually saw nb3 in the first couple of rows on twitch. him leaving is going to barely make an impact
