We need to find a way to properly connect Normal/SoloQ/Flex MMR

So usually I am a player on Platinum level, last season I even managed to hit Diamond, but that's only my SoloQ rank - mostly because I do not play other modes much. Now yesterday I decided that I need to try out some champions, mostly because my mains are all downright unplayable (good luck with team reliant tanks and supports when Riot wants everything to be a damage fiesta). Now usually one would say go do normals or heck even bot game to test out other champions, there was just one issue here: neither bot games nor normals are even remotely anything of a proper testing ground.

Since I alomst never play normals in the last eight years I'm not sure what my MMR is there, but it must be abyssimal low. There was one instance from years ago when Riot tested first out their "ranked restriction" punishment (aka play X normals before you can do ranked again) where they kinda flubbed some numbers and half the community had to take a (luckily in most cases very short) break from ranked. Those games were an absolute joke. I mostly remember playing AP Leona and actually winning with it. I could play pretty much anything these and it would barely qualify as a proper "test" of any sorts.

So instead of Normals I thought that maybe Flex Queue might be the way to go. My rank there was SILVER, but I thought that maybe this is a bit "closer" to Platinum than "MMR like you never played ranked before". Also I was on a unusual champion for me and the other team were most likely premades that would hold a coordination and communication advantage. I thought it wouldn't be so much of an issue that I as a Platinum player was suddenly in a Silver match, especially since I was not planning to tryhard anything, just trying out champion kits and the like.

How absolutely wrong I was. In fact those were the most boring games I had ever played. Especially in the Ahri-games I had. I am not sure if this is a general problem with matchmaking in Flex Queue, but even if I was not doing anything "special" in lane and just doing what I considered "the basic stuff" for me, the enemy never had a chance. Is this how people feel when they are smurfing? If yes, HOW CAN YOU KEEP DOING THAT IT'S BORING AS HELL, and that's on top of feeling just so blatantly unfair.

We need to find a way to keep things fair accross all modes, because those games certainly were not. Sure was it my fault that I disorted the balance being effectively a "smurf" in this situation? Yes, but what is the alternative then? Never ever play Flex or Normals ever again? Try out all new stuff directly in ranked much to the jox of my teammates? Nah that can't be the solution...

Learning new champions is easier in ranked than in normals because of that dumb 'noRmAlS' SEpaRatE mMr' thing. [zombie-brand-mindblown]
