In a 1 v 2 lane, every minion wave you get the exp off of is another victory. They are gimping themselves. 2 top gives their team more gold in theory but in practice one they will probably be stupid and just shove anyways and two a lot of toplaners can achieve perfect cs without a support anyways granted you actually focus on getting this and practice enough for that. You also have to build for it in some cases. The sololaner will get more levels and deny you gold later anyways though.

BTW another reason you want a jungler, I guarantee you that in 99% of matchups there's somebody in an off lane. By this I mean that garen mid and shit. There's gonna be someone in a less advantageous position. The garen example favors his enemy laner more than his enemy jungler but a stronger midlaner still means a stronger ganking buddy to take with you everywhere else while garen failpushes until he can get his pushing items. Its that simple.

Additionally, oftentimes the jungler is first to level 3 and 4. If you pick a champ with no clear speed then sure just go no jungler. Don't have to jungle lux but you might want to go grab the buffs if nobody farmed them and the buffs are behind in level so that anyone can take them. But on the otherhand if you have fast clear like on shyvanna, just go for it. Clear that jungle, hit level 4, go do your think all over their face. Their lanes will likely be suboptimal just to help you out even more.

But that said, there is a jungler and anyone who calls top and isn't prepared to 1v2 on a legit top laner simply wasn't prepared to toplane regardless of the mode. I don't care what their rank was, the idea of 1v2 being impossible at level 1 shouldn't be making them shit themselves if they really have any business pretending they know how to play. But also keep in mind that some people are just playing a fun mode and really don't know how to play. Keep calm and summoners code. Walk them through it or something. Just because you're an asshole doesn't mean your team has to know.
