Q - Same as live except it can reset on a marked target and heals Irelia W - Send a blade at cursor location. Reactivate to send a second blade. The two blades then move towards each other stunning and applying a mark on champions in the way E - Reduces damage taken then deals damage in front R - Throw a blade cage which damages and marks champions. Champions who walk into the wall have their damage reduced are Disarmed

No clue about passive tho

Verxint3 votes

I think the passive is the marks, detonating them probably does extra damage and maybe heals.

Mogarl1 votes

All the same conclusions I came to after studying the teaser except the Ult damage reduction bit. How'd you figure that out.

Passive could be the same as live. Letting such a mobile champion have free tenacity seems like a terrible idea but...

D2T Undeeds1 votes

About the ult, watch the first fight (VS Kayn and Cass), you can see a broken sword icon when they touch the blade wall. However it does not happen later on VS Draven and Darius. I'm not sure if it's because she kills them too quickly or if it needs time to trigger.

Leetri1 votes

The broken sword icon is used for Disarm. If you look up Amumu's ultimate on the wiki you'll see it has the same broken sword (his ult roots and disarms).

D2T Undeeds1 votes

Oh yeah, I forgot that was a thing. Does the sword icon appear for Amumu and Lulu too ? I don't recall and I can't test at the moment

Leetri1 votes

I just tried with Amumu and no it just shows the anchor icon for Root. I believe it just shows the Silence icon for Lulu, although I haven't tested that one. If I owned Quinn I'd try with her, she's the only champion so far with a pure Disarm (her Q disarms non-champions).

Your wrong about E, looks like it actively reflects back all received damage when it ends should they still be in a certain range, which means in theory you could send an entire rengar combo straight back to rengar and thats just terrifying.

its why shes rooted in place to give you a chance to escape the radius.

Oleandervine4 votes

It's most likely reflective of projectiles, and not melee damage. Let's remember, Kat's ult is technically ranged. It would be incredibly busted if it reflected melee damage back at her enemies, especially since her intended lane opponents will be melee 70% of the time.

Karn Bishop3 votes

Why wouldn't it? as you said most of her opponents are melee why would they put a skill into her kit that is 100% useless to her laning phase? unless they are planning on making her a jungler of a mid ad mage there is no way it doesn't block melee skills and damage.

Oleandervine2 votes

I said "reflective" which is not the same as "block."

Karn Bishop1 votes

Now thats just nit picking words, regardless of if its a block or damage reduction it still doesn't matter in that it would not make sense for it to not affect melee champions.

Oleandervine2 votes

"Block" and "Reflect" are some completely different effects, and they do extremely different things. When damage is blocked, it simply ceases to hurt or cause affects to take effect. When damage is reflected, the damage the would be dealt to you is dealt to the attacker instead, which means that they're going to kill themselves if they continue attacking you. One is strictly defensive, and one has the potential to make you untouchable. If she reflected melee damage back at her enemies, melee opponents would literally be killing themselves in combat with her when she presses a button, and their chances of escaping are already slim. The sheer amount of dueling pressure that reflecting melee damage would give her would make her laners be completely unable to deal with her. Ranged characters would at least be able to retreat until the spell subsides, but melee attackers do not have that luxury.

Karn Bishop2 votes

Well we should know which line of thinking is correct tues/weds, i would be shocked if it did not work like i think it does as your version would simply be too easy to avoid given this ability appears to root her in place for its duration.

TehNACHO2 votes

Uhh third party here saying no that's not nit picking. Reflecting damage has gigantic ramifications beyond blocking damage, don't discredit his argument trying to conflate the two because it simply does not work.

Karn Bishop3 votes

Pretty sure it is, if it only reflected ranged abilities or blocked them it would be a terrible ability and thats what he is arguing that it only works on ranged projectiles and does nothing to melee skills and autos.

Also it appears its an absorption affect where if you hit her with any damage while its active she absorbs it and then after a short delay can launch it back out in a direction, and i generally equate absorbing something with blocking it as generally when you absorb you just also block by the nature of the mechanic.

GodlyBane1 votes

E and W should be different, E is typically a secondary offensive ability, and W is typically the most defensive into offensive abilty on most champs, think of many champs, im sure you will find they use W as defense into offense ( i know its not all of the champs, but im saying a lot of them do have this W mechanic)

That. Is. The. Broken. Kit. I have ever seen in my life. Now b4 u start downvoting me, think about it. her q is quite similar to Yasuo e, wile her w is similar to Talon w, except it even has a stun. her e is like Fiora w. Finally her ulti is similiar to Thresh's. I have no idea wants to accomplish with the irelia rework, but i gurantee u that if this is how she is released, she will be a pick/ban. Prepare for the next yasuo.

Her W is probably her blade shield, and it seems to reflect, not just reduce damage, probably does more damage the more you block, hopefully with a cap.

Her E seems to be automatic when the second dagger gets dropped given that they are exactly the same length and activation timing in every instance she uses it. The line also originates straight from her current location and where she casts the initial dagger.

Champs that walk into the Blade cage are also re-marked with her passive if she popped it already, it appears.

Every champ has to have an insanely overloaded kit nowadays for some reason. Why can Riot design some more champs with relatively basic abilities?

PePsiLemoNN10 votes

We don't even know the abilities = overloaded. k

TehNACHO24 votes

I recall a champion designer explained exactly this when they released Camille, when it comes to melee carries it's entirely intentional.

The short version is melee kits with simple mechanics ala Tryndamere become hyper binary and nigh impossible to balance. Intentionally overloading a kit gives rioters more levers to pull and allows more avenues for success and failure, avoiding the hyper binary nature of older generation melee champions.

Also you've got to be fair, not every new release is overloaded and overcomplicated. Galio and Urgot are recent-ish reworks that are pretty simple. Xayah is really plain if we don't count Rakan. Hell, even champions like Jhin who have literal paragraphs to explain their mechanics are actually really simple from a gameplay perspective.

Zenthon Prime5 votes

The resets also aren't as insane as the trailer makes it look; the last two clips have her dashing several times per target because she kills them with the dash in addition to using her marks. In reality, she gets two(?) marks at max on a single target (didn't see the counter mark anyone), one of which requires an ult. That's somewhere between Kled and Yasuo, leaning towards Kled.

Lil Homie busta1 votes

Well said sir.[zombie-brand-clap]

gives rioters more levers to pull

Shame most of the time they pull the wrong levers.........................

Maybe we should make binary champions for the sole reason of Riot not breaking them? Trynda was stat-check, but as annoying as he is he wasn't OP or extremaly weak. Just annoying.

it's not overloaded at all lmao. I'm sorry that every champ isn't

Q- does damage (point and click) W- boosts speed E- stuns (point and click) R- does a large amount of damage (skillshot, wow, getting a bit crazy there amirite?)

We just got Kai'sa... She's pretty straight forward.

Riot: So players claim to hate mobility, Wind wall, and zoning skills. Let's put all three into 1 kit!

Actually it seems like she kind of stuns herself while using this "shield" plus it's only for herself. Good one for the other points though

From what I can tell:

P - Puts a mark on champs hit by non-Q spells. Not sure what it does. I'm betting on bonus true damage or resists for irelia based on how many enemies have her mark on them (based on her old passives). Mark has two charges for the purposes of Q, being hit by an additional spell refreshes them.

Q - Similar to her current one. Dashes through a target, deals damage, heals her (green particles when she Q's in trailer), and resets upon killing your target. Using Q on a target consumes 1 of 2 charges on the target.

green particles seen here to prove healing: https://imgur.com/2QdLU3a

W - Irelia channels a damage reducer similar to Master Yi's W but then breaks the channel and does damage in a line or to a target based on the damage taken/reduced during the channel

E: Irelia places a blade at two selected points, and then enemies caught between these two points in a line are stunned.

R: Fires out a group of blades that expands upon the first enemy hit or at max range. Passing through the wall of blades disarms the opponent, preventing autos as we can see in the first interaction. Maybe slows like thresh ult. You'll see broken sword icons appear next to the Kayn and Cass when they pass through it:

https://gifs.com/gif/irelia-the-blade-dancer-champion-trailer-league-of-legends-zKNXXY

Rioter wanna tell me if I'm close?

Anyway here's my breakdown of each fight:

1 - Ult > E1 > Q on Kayn > E2 > Q on Kayn again > W on Kayn 2 - Only W 3 - Q kill on minion > Q kill on minion > Flash > Q kill on minion > E1 > E2 > Q on Riven > Q kill on minion > Ult > Q on Riven > Q on Riven 4 - E1 > E2 > Q Talon > Q LB > Q Talon > Q LB 5 - Ult > Q on Swain > Q on Darius > E1 > Q on Draven > E2 > Q on Darius > W Swain.

Basically her kit is about using her Q creatively to get E stuns lined up, then using the charges that will give you two dash around and deal more damage. Ult is for setting up marks on targets and preventing them from fleeing while you dash in and shit on them. W is a pure dueling tool for outplaying opponents and shutting down their damage spells like Fiora's riposte.

Good job rito you managed to give a champ Yasuo's E, Fiora's W, Malz's Q as a stun, and Thresh's ult. Oof. Needless to say I'll be abusing this shit when it's not permabanned.

All those abilities were just her Q. That's why it's a teaser.

Bisaknosp1 votes

they said a few years ago that they want her to be able to duel more than one champ at once her q is still the same with some tweaks i guess

BurnSnake1 votes

Predictions:

Passive: An AA empower (probably on a timer), that she sweeps her blades in front of her. Q: Same as current q but with a way flashier animation and also resets on using it on a MARKED target W: Stand still and channel a damage reduction (Like Yi's meditate with no healing) E: Send out blades in a long line, stunning the targets hit on the way out, then they come back and mark the enemies they hit then R: Sends out a skillshot that explodes into an arrowhead shape of blades on first Champ hit or at max range. Enemies hit by the blades take damage and are all marked.

Elohaven1 votes

Passive - Marks enemies when hit with abilities for bonus damage. Q consumes marks. Q - Bladesurge - Everytime passive is up or an enemy dies, CD is refunded W - Deflect (Absorbs/reduces damage briefly and reflects it in a direction) E - Line of blades that stun you if you are hit by them and mark you with her passive for bonus damage R - Line of blades you can dance around and deal bonus damage to enemies in vicinity
