Why are non-marksmen bot lanes so popular all of a sudden ?

FioraWillCarry··1 votes·945 views

Over the last several games I've seen Riven, Velkoz, Ziggs, Mordekaiser and other champs in place of a marksman in the bot lane, and better yet, no one complains. It's as if it's considered meta now. Why is this happening now ? I'm just curious.

A lot of people hate marksmen and are now abusing this period of weakness to try new combos.

Sucks for marksmen but feels great for pretty much everyone else.

because ziggs bot is legit so people stopped crying when other people wanted to try something new.

How did those non marksmen teams work? I've only seen it a few times and they got a spanking each time. Against Ziggs you just need to let your support know to constantly push.

That's hard against constant AOE Ziggs poke with hitboxes that boggle the mind... that can chunk you pretty hard early game.

Ziggs has strong level 1 presence. And you're also forgetting that botlane's a duo. There's also another person in lane to worry about. ("Support in pretty much any year lul").

Said support could be a pokey karma or, God forbid, Brand.

Actually, they worked exceptionally well most of the time. I had a Velkoz bot lane that got insanely fed and just stomped the shit out of the enemy bot lane. Another one we were up against a Riven/Lux combo that just raped everything. I could also remember a couple of Ziggs bot lane games that worked really well. I've also seen Jayce a fair amount of times just straight up stomp the bot lane. I've seen a Darius do alright. These non-marksman bot lanes are actually working a lot better than I would have imagined. I don't play them myself but others are doing well with it.

because Ziggs cheese strat made it t where people wanna try and make it meta to finally not have to use a damn marksman in the blotlane every game.

i can answer to this question the damage of marksmen in early game was heavily reduced with all those years

to the point i'm able to pick adc darius, force fights with them and win 100% of the time except against Caitlyn Ezreal who still do heavy damage without items

because marksman is less strategic pick now. Why we need a champion who builds only dmg and dies like a fly, if we can pick a champion who builds bruiser, can still oneshot squishis and have proper survi/escape or just safe range? Ziggs

People are under the impression that adcs are really weak right now. What they don't get is that adc is a simple way to guarantee dps on your team. You can replace them, but you have to make sure you have some form of ranged dps like a battlemage, otherwise you won't be able to finish out teamfights.

Yeah. When I see a Ziggs bot on the enemy team and no dps in top/mid/jungle, I smile because it's all burst and as a tank I can shrug that off.

I wouldn't say it's "popular".

APC Ziggs set off a fad. Ziggs is used primarily for his tower-taking speed. Also his ridiculous poke while still being safe... and also because the meta means botlane is likely going to be royally screwed over by a Ziggs APC (seriously, ever had your squishy bot get CHUNKED by Ziggs poke? HA! Not fun.).

I'm glad no one gets flamed for you carries, though. Meanwhile, if I play Malz support, my bot ints... even if it's more meta than Ziggs bot right now. They also rage because that carry is too unskilled to get the last tick of damage through my DoT... even if we still get a kill and are put ahead.

I'm seeing non-markman bot lanes back to back for several games in a row now. Sometimes, it's my team, sometimes it's the enemy team, sometimes it's both teams. I see it so much now that I expect it. It was on the rise for the past couple weeks now but since about 2 days ago, it's exploded into wild popularity.

Because mages scales the same or even better than adc but have much more impact when behind.

I think some players are glad that marksman are no longer the 100% needed role in a team. You don't always need mages, assassins, or fighters in a team but in the past you always needed a marksman. I think players like change.
