lane entrances. as in plural. you can ward the bushes and the river if you want to be safe. you cant do that with eve. and yea, people do that. i know i do when i feel i need to. especially against the champions you mentioned.
And those champions also have a means of going around them, including leaping over chickens, leaping over the walls, and bypassng it.
Hence, why scanner is picked up so early.
Jarvan, Vi, many champs can avoid entering the river.
Let alone the difficulty involved in warding the river, is the same as throwing a ward over the wall to blue, red, chickens, wolves.
You're literally shifting your ward placement by a 500 units.
to abuse your false sense of security. you ward the river, she comes through the lane. you set the pink ward in the lane, she comes through the river. see the problem?
TO abuse your false sense of security, we're dealing with Vi.
You ward the river, she Q's behind you through the chickens.
You set a pink in the bush in mid, a stealth in the other, she goes through the small choke point on the side, Q's behind you from the FoW for a gank.
Or Rengar, or Kha'zix. Or Jarvan.
as stated before against other junglers you can ward all entrances if you need to.
You would need to ward 6 different spots for mid lane alone to prevent all ganks.
For top , you would need 2 wards at least.
one for River bush, one for the top bush near the opponent's turret since they can push and force a blind spot.
Jungler's not named Evelynn, such as Rek'sai, can ignore those two wards and leap over the wall for a gank if you are being too defensive/over aggressive.
you wont have a hard time warding against his jungler aswell in most other situations. it only makes the situation worse. what if im not behind, but my opponent has a power spike?
what if he simply has it easy to sneak a few attacks in on the ward due to his kit? (top lane swain, vlad etc. there are some top laners with ranged auto attacks).
You play more safely, throw the ward over the wall from your jungle.
Alternatively, since you are a melee, you should be attempting to play defensively.
For example, as Maokai, you should never be pushing a lane because of the difficulty in clearing wards/placing wards safely.
It is why in any high elo play, melee tops generally try to keep it a farm unless they are sure of the jungler's position.
This goes for all junglers, not just evelynn.
high elo is just as frustrated with her as other elo ranges. spellblade becomes an option and she immediately gets picked up in pro play. it happened a bunch of times in the past that she was on top of the food chain when it came to jungling. riot just immediately axed her every time it happened.
If you look at the LCS, the majority of Evelynn players went for Warrior's enchantment over Runeglaive.
Runeglaive was utilized because it turned 50% of the damage from Ravage into magical, which was the original state before Riot altered it into physical due to toxic synergy with it, her ult, and DFG.
Evelynn was never top of the food chain in s4, nor was she top of the food chain in S5.
She hardly saw massive amounts of play, and actually has met many counters such as Rek'sai who is not only geard for counter jungling but flat out ignores her passive with her massive sound vision.
other junglers also have lethal ganks, yes. and heyve been nerfed for it. prime example would be nocturne who could also bypass wards with his ult.
its the same problem usually.
Nocturne had a 5k(?) gap closer that remove all map vision, and bypassed wards.
That is not at all the same as Evelynn whose stealth range is 700 (she can't hit you til you can see her), who does not have a gap closer, has a decaying projectile, and has no hard CC.
Ward her jungle, it gives you a statement of where she is, where she will be going, and what her current status is at the moment.
Nerfing Evelynn to be weaker than she was in s4, is not at all balancing her.
