When talking about assassins, there is one champion people just tend to always forget about.

Kassadin

People say the only good assassins atm are Rengar, Kata and Fizz but no one ever talks about Kassadin and I really don't know why. For the whole last season and the beginning of this one he's been constantly hovering around an average winrate without any nerfs or buffs in sight. Considering the balancing nightmare that he used to be find it sad that now, after he finally reached a perfect spot, no one plays him or even bothers to talk about him, even though he's one of the few assassins capable of doing his job.

Kassadin is great when he's ahead, but to get him ahead he needs a favourable matchup, otherwise he ends up behind and contributes little to the team. His base damage is really low so if you don't get to your items fast enough you can fade into obscurity, and since everything on his kit is so gated he struggles to get back into equal standing if he ever gets behind.

Nothing wrong with that mind you, having a specialized pick that's not as powerful in general is quite cool, but you're not going to pick Kassadin with a mindset of "I think our team needs an Assassin", you pick Kassadin with a mindset of "Oh hey, midlane matchup is favored on the side of Kass, they have more AP than AD and their jungler pick can't punish Kass mid".

Thought about picking him into low pressure toplanes like tanks from time to time. In the professional scene this was a thing for a while because he had a much easier time laning against the tank meta toplane than against lane bully midlaners and he would just freefarm into the mid- and late game.

if your playing against a shitty enough mid laner that doesn't fuck you up and make you usless for 30 minutes. your just playing against bad people

literally 9/10 mid laner can beat the fuck out of kassadin and make him usless. agaisnt a decent mid you can't even cs half a wave without getting poked out of lane and losing your turret or dying few times eventually.

I played against a Kassadin a while back and he was brutally strong. If he caught you alone, you were basically dead. Part of it was due to him being fed, but even as the game got drawn out and we started catching up, he still retained a relatively strong ability to delete people so long as they didn't have the range to poke him down before he was able to engage and shield up. I can't play him for a crap, but the person who played him in that particular game shoed that he is actually quite good at his job in capable hands.

What kass has over most Champs isn't the ap or assain . What he has is his w procs lich bane, ludens, static shiv and rapid fire all at once off his w. Ever seen someone get one shorted off 1 w it's hilarious

Probably because many of us wish they had reworked him to fit his original thematic of an anti-mage bruiser. Instead due to scalings he became a mobile mage then assassin. Ri9t favored this gameplay and tuned for it. He hit 90% pick or ban so they gutted his kit and left him as an assassin.

He takes to long to get fed. Ult has crap range . High mana cost high cds. What fizz lb have is more mobility and high damage out put

No one knows him.

But really he's a good champ, but he takes way too fucking long to scale up. Dying to kassadin in lane means you're fucking trash unless he had 1 and a half complete item plus boots.
