every 1.5 seconds, the tower does a flat burst of damage (such as the current towers), that ramps up the DPS on the laser
basically combining lasers and current towers to create a bursty-type dps that punishes squishies hard for tanking and tanks have to make meaningful timing decisions when it comes to timing the bursts of damage.
