Does anyone actually pay to change their smite?

A few patches ago, Riot added a cost of 255 gold if you want to change your smite type before finishing your jungle item. However, I cannot recall a single time where I've noticed someone actually changing it in a game. Has anyone here actually bothered to pay the 255 gold to change smites?

It's common to use blasting smite then switch to chilling before you complete the item.

I've done it once or twice.

I do it for tanks with blasting->chilling or with, well ill call them hunters, blasting->challenging.

also works for top lane smiters

blasting lets you cs hardcore.

however this is only really common when you don't finish the jg item right away.

like say if your buildpath is like

blasting smite>bamis cinder>sheen>rest of triforce>first defensive item>swap smites and finish cinderhulk for the mid-late game

I switched smite all the time before they added a cost back, but now, I only do it on maybe 2 or 3 junglers that really really need the early sustain of trailblazer but do better with stalkers or skirmishers..

On a couple champs I do, but not often. Rangers is very helpful for clears early but serves no late game utility

Whenever I play Naut/Sion jungle I grab a rangers first, so I can get out of the jungle quicker to gank, and when I get enough switch it to Skirmishers.
