I can't seem to figure it out..

Why is sated bruiser yi still a thing? Why is sated devourer still a thing? Yes it could just be me being low elo and being bad... but that's a majority of the people who play LoL.

because in low elo you don'T have enough cc/don't use it properly ... and the jungler isn't denying enough big monsters to reduce sated stacking speed.

To be fair it's also tough in solo queve to A. Coordinate your cc sometimes and B. The maw/steraks shield combo is absolutely stupid. Just by the yi's game decisions and how he played I could tell that he wasn't the most skilled.. and that's fine it really is. What gets me however is he feels to rewarding to play when building sated when you compare him to how difficult he is to play.

Let's take Draven for example, he's by know means easy to play. However once you get proficient with him(catching axes and what not) he begins to feel very rewarding to play and that I think is a good champion design. Many champions that run sated don't really have too much mechanically for the kind of reward that sated offers. This is ofcourse my personal opinion.. but especially in yi's case, true damage is not able to be mitigated so a couple hundred true damage every 2 autos doesn't feel fun to play against at all. I appreciate you for not dowvoting me by the way, and I'm glad that we can have a civil discussion :)

Yi: because bruiser items and the current meta still are able to contribute a lot of on hit damage and durability. This isn't a problem with Yi (as multiple champions are using these same items to the same effect), but with the items.

Devourer: it isn't a problem.

Devourer is a problem. It's what contributes so much to the on hit damage, heck even without it's phantom hit passive it still adds 60 magic damage per auto.

So i tried Glass Cannon Yi. I did pretty well but had to hide ALL the time.

GC Yi - Even with 6 items item 3931 ,item 3508 item 3046 item 3156 item 3009 item 3087 . I felt WEAK af. AS was low. Which means I need all 6 items to reach Yi's peak. I got sated ~25 min, got invaded and gave reasonable ganks.

AS was ~1.6 and AD was ~200. I have get Maw instead of QSS becuz they lacked hard CC but had good AP. i.e. lack of AD. As GC Yi, I lack any good passives or stacking.

Brusier Yi- item 3931 , item 3124,item 3009 or item 3111 , item 3139 or item 3156 ( rest tanky like item 3742 ) Rageblade give AD, AS, MS and wave clear thru stacking and it needs just 4 physical hits. Agreed his chasing speed is dropped but he is no more a cleaner. He can be with the team instead of just hiding and wondering from where CC is gonna hit.

His damage output is, actually, dropped. But with a mix of Magic and physical means champs will melt faster. Mazes don't have scaling MR and ADCs never bother to get Maw or any MR. It's a trade off, i do less true damage but more magic damage and can still deal tons of damage ( if not 2 shot kills).
