"Counter Play" and "healthy champions" never existed...

Ok. there were a few that accidentally were put in that category but really..... Remember in S2 with Xin and Yi's terrorizing every game, that lasted 2 seasons nearly, lets not forget the jax's either, he had his time in the lime light at the same exact time. I wouldn't consider champs that can delete you in 2 seconds with 2 crits as "healthy".

Same with Tryndamere. Sure he's easy enough to shut down and or kite, and in the last 2 seasons especially he's really not worth much, but he's still not "healthy".. his kit.. c'mon.. Invincibility with super steroid boosts at the same time, and a slow and gap closer.. He's what I call a softly overloaded kit...

Now the early champs DID have counter play.. THey weren't healthy, but had counter play...

Now since end of S3 nope... Riot decided "who needs counter play?" We'll keep pretending we want it.. but we don't....

My first aha to this was alll the way back to when Darius was released.. Remember his ult? Yea the dunk master 9000 auto win herpa derp. Cuz that's healthy right? True damage ontop! whoot! Oh wait... you can hour glass and stop it? aww...

Riot: Woah now! we don't want that! That's not good "Counter Play"... Don't worry Darius we got you, Hour Glass will have a slight delay now so you can get your ult in..

Darius: Thank you!.... wait.. sometimes they're still doing it!!

Riot: Damn those pesky players stopping "good counter play" on this perfectly "healthy" Bruiser, We can't have them stopping his ult! Let's give Darius his ult back if that happens, that'l fix the problem!

C'mon guys.. we've known since Darius was released that Riot hasn't given 2 shits about counter play or healthy champions except.. removing them from the game completely. Everytime since darius you figure out a way to counter one of these new champ's ult's or counter play it, they alter the meta, or change the champion itself to get around these changes cuz.... counter play? wtf?

REMOVING COUNTER PLAY IS NOT COUNTER PLAY! !

Well, shaco going invisible and running away is an excellent example of boring counterplay / no counterplay as well.

But obviously whether its darius or its shaco, you don't see them rocking anything better than a 50% winrate and I think there is a reason for that. The kind of counterplay involved here is called teamfighting. Individually there is only so much they can do but in the "grand scheme" they can't necessarily put down the preassure or sustainability needed to combat the opposing team's strategy, assuming they have one.

Try picking Teemo into Darius and see what happens.

The grand scheme part holds a lot of truth. A lot of champions are given 1-2 game breaking elements. However since everyone has a different type of game breaking elements. They balanced out in the "grand scheme" of the game.
