When a champion can 1v1 any other champion in the game without trouble

It may be a sign that their kit is overloaded.

Riven has one of the strongest level 3s in the game and she never falls off. Assuming we use one ability rotation, this is what her kit contains:

A passive that gives her free (shit tons of) damage, 4 dashes for mobility, an aoe knock up, an aoe stun, a shield that scales with AD, a steroid that gives bonus AD and range and is also a powerful ranged nuke. In addition, she's resourceless and has fairly short cooldowns. She also has high base stats.

So why are we leaving her with free reign over League of Legends? She is the safest pick in the game right now and can escape an entire team going after her. Why does she have such high dueling power, such a safe laning phase, no mana issues, and aoe abilities that allow her to transition to teamfighting with ease?

Her kit is overloaded as fuck and I think everyone knows it. Even if you build tanky, she can bully you early game. Every 13 seconds she can chunk your hp and dash away without taking damage because of her shield, all while using no mana. At least with Leblanc you can counterpick her easily. Udyr is the only champion that can handle her decently and by that I mean he actually has a chance to beat her 1v1 assuming they have the same summoner spells.

Garen, Pantheon, and Mordekaiser all do well against her.

Pantheon is the only champion I'd give a slight edge to but assuming both players have equal skill levels you can still manage as a riven, unlike going against a Riven as half the champions in the game in which case you die at level 3 or lose tons of CS. Pantheon however falls off hard where Riven doesn't.

idk if I'm just playing really bad Rivens, but I've beaten her as Gnar, Rengar, Malz, Nasus, and a few others top. You might want to play more passively...? I definitely don't think her kit is overloaded or she's even remotely OP though.

Garen dumpsters Riven, Darius is a good pick against Riven. She's not an issue unless she gets fed, yes she DOES snowball very hard and out of control, but that's what she was designed to be apparently. CC shuts her down harder than most champions, particularly silences due to the fact that they prevent her from doing literally anything.

I stopped having problems playing against Riven when I learned how to play against her. And how to play Quinn, that helped a whole bunch. But now I don't feel so pressured when I'm playing against her...either that, or Rivens are getting worse nowadays, because I'm certainly not getting better. XD

Quinn, if played well, is Riven's best counter in lane, it's actually absurd how well she can do it, and the reason is simple:

Vault can interrupt Q 3, and once this happens, Riven is literally helpless. ;-;

Swain is another good counter her, and he's actually really strong all game. Hard as shit to farm well with but Swain farms champions, try it out, hahaha.

Whenever I'm in draft and a Riven is on the enemy team, I'll take Quinn and follow her all over the map while laughing evilly. Such fun.

I was interested in Swain since the general community consensus about him is "Don't talk about Swain or else people will start playing him." Hmm....... >:D

I guess it's time to look at everything a champion's kit does and declare it OP in a vaccuum.

Passive: A magic damage DoT applied on hit, okay, that's really fair, he keeps damaging you for three seconds after the fights over? AND it applies CC? CC in a >passive, gj rito, omg. And it's magic damage so armour does nothing, how do I itemize against GP?

Q Turns a melee carry into an ADC, gives him ranged CC with his passive, generates extra gold, all in one ability. It can crit, it works with sheen, it >applies on hits, is there anyhing Parrrrley can't do, rito?

W Oh, great, a cleanse. On a melee carry. Real fair. "Just CC them"!11, oh, and it has a scaling heal ? What the fuck? He's tanky enough without this, just remove it.

E An AoE Nunu bloodboil for allies that passively makes him a better fighter. Why does this even have a passive? Overloaded as shit.

R: I CAN GANK WITHOUT HAVING TO STOP FARMING, REAL FAIR.

Oh, hey, a buzzword that doesn't actually mean anything. As seen above, I can make GP's kit seem overloaded with the slightest amount of scrutiny.

Just play her and learn her weaknesses, like you would any other champion, it's not hard at all.

the art of making a champ OP by only mentioning its upsides. heres what you "forgot" to mention:

3 of those dashes include a lot of her damage, so you have to decide for either mobility or damage in 70% of the times, neither the knockup nor the stun have long range or last for long. those are mere interrupts rather than real cc, the shield forces her to build full damage for it to be effective wich leads to her beeing squishy despite the shield, her steroid (whilst having a fairly low CD lategame) has a long CD early and she needs it to fight, if your even with her you can fight her easily when her ult is down. she is resourceless because giving her a resource would make her incredibly UP since she relies on comboing, and her Q has a 12 second CD lategame.

She neither has a safe lane, nor is he a safe player in general, shes easily counterpicked. also ONE hard cc or silence hitting her leads to her death lategame.

Shes NOT OP, and in no way a safe blind pick. she is easily snowballed on aswell as having a very high skill ceiling and a decently high skill floor, if your bad with her you are useless.

What is there to read? All you've really said is that you don't understand how to play against Riven.

Instead of complaining why don't you look up how to play against her? She's not exactly difficult to stop.
