A Guide to Beating Vayne at Every Stage of the Game

Alright guys i decided to make this guide on beating vayne because of all of the threads lately about her being so broken. I am not with or against these and I do feel she is very strong so here we go. Three easy steps to destroy Vayne early, mid, and late.

  • Early Game- Pick Draven Congratulations, you have now won the early game. You can sleep calmly at night knowing that every time vayne walks up for some CS to get her closer to that anal pounding final build she will lose a quarter of her HP. Does your support have one targeted cc ability? Is the answer yes? CONGRATS. You are now fed as all balls or vayne has 0 cs.

For those of you who think I am messing around ill do a damage comparison. Obviously we know draven will be higher but let's see by how much at levels 6 with a doran's blade.

Draven Level 6- 3 Axes- 513 damage (171 each) 2 Autos- 208 damage (has 104 AD at level 6 with the runes i run. Standard ADC attack speed quints marks of AD) E- 80 damage R- 203 Damage (406 if it hits both ways but i will assume she is competent enough to dodge the second instance of it)

Total Damage- 1004 DAMAGE. RITO PLS

Vayne Level 6 Bonus damage from two tumbles- 78 damage (at 130 AD from her ult steroid) 4 autos- 520 ( the fight is not going to last long enough for her to get any more than 4 with just a dorans blade. W proc- 100 true damage E- 70 damage ( 140 if he hits a wall, which is unlikely to happen this early. It could but we are assuming these players are gold or above at least)

Total Damage- 768. LOL GTFO

Obviously there a multiple variables especially with the supports with the numbers dont lie. Also to clear a few things up. This is made assuming the players are of equal skill and are pretty good with each. With that said, draven would be juggling two axes that is how he would hit 3, you can remove an auto if you would like or an axe. The damage differential remains the same.

  • Mid game

Ask yourself these simple questions

  1. Do i have Infinity Edge

  2. Is my Ult up?

  3. Am i Draven

If you answered yes to those three questions you can now crap all over vayne regardless of whether or not she has that bullshit BOTRK that should be renamed to Blade of the Vayne Mains.

  • Late Game

Now you must ask yourself 3 more questions

  1. Do you have 5 items?

  2. Are two of those items Trinity Force and IE

  3. Did you hit Vayne with one spinning Axe?

CONGRATUFUCKINGLATIONS you just one shotted vayne. She is no longer a problem. Because you did 2000 damage with one axe.

In Conclusion, One of my friends is one of the best draven players i have ever seen and he craves this matchup. If you are an adc main and desperately looking for a way to destroy those pesky vaynes that are in every single damn game, I would suggest picking up and mastering Draven as he destroys vayne at every stage of the game and one kill in lane will throw you so far ahead of her it is almost impossible to ever out damage him or beat him.

Prepare your anus vayne, Draven mains incoming with that nice PBE buff.

She can only condemn you out of one axe, and as soon as she does you just Que up another axe. Most dravens juggle two axes the entire laning phase. This means the cooldown on his axe is up so the second you condemn him from one he just activates another. Even if this isn't the case, draven out damages vayne with only one axe up.

Okay. Two quick questions here:

A) Draven is legitimately hard to play. Catching axes, especially with 100-120 ping, is not easy to do continuously. So what advice do you have for players who want to deal with Vayne but do not own/cannot play/do not enjoy playing Draven?

B) The point of a thread like this is usually how to outplay. Your suggestion comes tumbling down if the enemy team simply bans Draven. Additionally, you aren't taking into account that Vayne has a passive and Draven does not, at least where trading and fighting are concerned.

A) ADC mains should at least be able to play every ADC. With that being said if you dont want to play draven, I would recommend caitlyn or Varus. Both are great lane bullies to shut down vayne from reaching that late game. Vayne will outscale cait but cait's range will still keep her plenty relevant and safe in team fights. Vayne has to be somewhat close and is in danger of being cc'ed. A good varus is a nightmare for vayne. You have great long range poke and your ult destroys her entire kit. However you must be good at landing your ult. If you have a support with good follow up cc vayne will never beat you. Draven is the best pick but Varus is amazing yoo. both just have a smaller main base so you dont see them quite as much as you see vayne.

B) Vayne's passive isn't taken into account when fighting unless draven is running away. Draven's passive is the key that makes this a complete counter. If you get one kill on vayne, your passive will make sure she never catches up to you. Other adc's can kill her, but no one else can kill her and put an insurmountable gold lead on her. That's the key. Even if you fall behind you are always one kill away from catching up. At no point during the game can vayne outdamage draven unless she is a full item ahead, which is highly unlikely and even then its iffy. If your support has one targeted stun its over. Draven Leona or thresh is an absolute nightmare for vayne

Except Varus is awful since the changes to Tear of the Goddess, and his attack speed is so low that Vayne will likely out CS him while she plays safe.

Once Vayne gets her Cutlass Varus can't even poke her out of lane because she can just sustain through it, and Varus's support won't have poke to help because all the poke supports have been nerfed to non-existence (Lulu is never seen, Sona is too weak early and Karma gets destroyed by Blitz or Leona).

I can assure you that your ult in combo with any of these supports (Blitz, thresh, leona, braum) will destroy her. Sure at some point she will be able to ignore your poke but if you land your ult on her in a team fight you have already done more for your team than she can. Again a situational pick. Draven, cait, and even possibly graves are amazing against her

My main has nothing to do with anything. I've played tryndamere since his release on all of my accounts. You play quite possibly the biggest RNG cheese champ ever in yasuo. If a champ is fun and i enjoy playing them why cant I?

Add to your MID-LATE another question: "Do I have upgraded red trinket?" Because thats 250 gold investment that makes Vayne's ulti useless

This is also true. I forgot to mention it, however you will destroy her regardless. Especially if you get one crit

another great counter as well. A lot less played though and if you don't destroy her in lane you are screwed.
