Promos are bad and here is how to fix them

I'm sure there are people who are going to downvote simply because it's a promo thread, but please bear with me.

Here is why promos are bad. You have to win 2 out of 3 games to move up a division and 3 of 5 to move up a tier. That's sound pretty reasonable until you realize that you first had to win a game to even get into the promotion series. So in reality you have to win 3 out of 4 (75%!) for divisions and 4 of 6 (67%!) for tier. Those are very high numbers for pretty much anyone.

At lower ELO (and sometimes higher) this is a frigging nightmare and where the term ELO hell comes from. In 4 games you are basically guaranteed to lose one of them due to a troll, afk, or someone who feeds like mad. (If you don't believe this, you haven't played low ELO in quite some time) Since you are already in the promo, you won that first game, so the auto loss is going to be in your promo. That means (in reality) most of the time you have to win 2 of 2 games to move up. Yes, you have decent odds to get a "free win" with the other team having an afk or such, but then you only have only one game to determine your fate. In the tier promo it is can be even worse since you have a high chance lose 2 games due to horrible players or afk, so you are already screwed. If you only have 1 game with an afk, etc. and you get 1 free game from the other team, you still have to go 2 of 3.

So what can we do to fix this. It's easy, make the division promo 2 of 4 and the tier promo 3 of 6. This makes sense because 1) you have had to have a 50% win record or better to get to promos in the first place, and 2) winning 50% of a series is reasonable because a 50% win rate is supposed to let you climb anyway according to pretty much every reliable source you read about it. Hell, there are guys in Diamond who have an overall LOSING record in ranked due to the way MMR awards and deducts points. You just have to dodge the right games to achieve this, but you can't do that in promos!

Another solution has been presented on the boards numerous times. If you have an afk during a promotional tournament (shown by the red name in the post game screen), that loss doesn't count towards your series. While it wouldn't account for all the trolls and feeders, it would definitely be better than what we have now.
