Plenty of things that "make no sense" occur because it's more important that a game doesn't have horrible gameplay rather than to obsessively toe the line of some arbitrary set of notions for no reason other than "because 'realism' ".

She parries everything around her. And aims a slow in a direction. It's not the slow that parries, it's her. She can aim the slow wherever she wants. The slow is separate from the invulnerability.
