The recent history of "agency".

Before the marksman update, there was a certain buzzword surrounding adcs. That was called "agency". It was said that "no matter what ADC you pick, you were chained to what your support does and the outcome of the botlane was decided on your support." Although supports being slaves to adcs were a meme, in reality ADCs were punching bags in the eyes of the assassins and were protected by supports because of how weak they were. Also there was the "autofill" incident which made playing adc miserable as hell when it was introduced, and is still on current course.

This lack of agency broke out full course of the past few years, with serious amount of complaints. 1st tower gold, crit item gold reduction and match time decrease. ARDENT last year. And in comparison, midlane had barely any changes in items or "agency". (Actually it is still being nerfed frequently since the removal of DFG.) Toplane lost all of it's "agency" that of now it just receded in playing ornn.

I must say that although being chained to a support seriously is bad for the past players, this core experience has NOT changed at all and because of this you are compelled to grant ADCs more than they need. Because of said possiblity that the "support" might hinder the skill and agency of adc individual...this is a bit of a insane situation.

Support and ADC is like a switching game, supports get the strength early, adcs get it late.

Supports are always dependent on teammates, they can't get anything proactive done without an ally. ADCs can be proactive but not defensive, they can't survive without an ally. That's why they're so interdependent.

An ADC should rely on their support's macro- because supports should be paying attention to the map. But a support has an obligation to help their ADC. They're chained to eachother.
