Blue Build
a) first back and spend 700+ gold on a Tear, no combat stats, delayed Sheen into Ice born for negative damage
b) first back and by a fucking Sheen
Ezreal mains??

I don't see what you are trying to say here, do we struggle in the early game? Yes, yes we do, but the scaling is so worth it.
The tear is simply so you can start stacking it ASAP until you have enough gold for a Manamune. This way, you'll have it nearly fully stacked into a Muramana and that's when you start dealing a LOT of damage. As long as the guy can play safe and still farm efficiently, there's no reason to not do this as not doing so would only delay a very strong power spike even more.
What is the power spike though? Can't you just buy real items and hit one earlier?
The power spike is Muramana. The issue here is that you need to get stacks on a TotG/Manamune to get to it. It's kind of like getting a RoA. If you don't rush it, you might as well not get it. Any champion that likes to rush a TotG item gets a TotG as a first or second item. Yes the early laning will suck, but if you get something else, your Muramana is going to be so late that you'll entirely miss your mid game which is what Ezreal excels at.
So it's Tear > iceborn > finish?
Or straight up manamune then iceborn?
It's dependent on how quickly you're able to stack the tear, but it's generally something to sit on until it's fully stacked so probably an Iceborn first. I'm not a huge player of Ezreal, but that's what I've done/seen in most builds that include a tear item on any champion.
That being said, I can see where NOT getting a Manamune until the tear is nearly fully stacked would be pretty hindering on the early game. I think it's something that would depend on how the game is going. If you need damage early, I'd say just get a Manamune and stack it that way. If not, I'd sit on the tear until it's stacked.
Both work.
Manamune rush provides more initial AD and lets you stack with basic attacks (conserving mana).
Iceborn Gauntlet provides Spellblade, armor, CDR and a slow. This is useful for kiting, waveclearing, durability, and poke.
Tear = sustain Sustain = more gold when you back More gold = more items
Its about in what stage you want to put your emphasis.
Also, Ezreal spams spells and will often farm with Q, the mana is worth it
