Update on Teemo Cheese Kills Being Marked as AFK for Remake

Hey there,

Thanks for writing in and reaching out! I checked out the games, and you aren't participating well after minions have engaged on the Rift. While cheesing a kill is great, prolonging it further than necessary is detrimental to the team. In one of your games, there wasn't any interaction with anything on the Rift till 3 minutes in (over a minute since minions hit the lanes). Since you weren't interacting with the game, this is considered AFK.

If you have any other questions or concerns, let me know.

Riot Player Support

Note: I removed the Rioter's selected name to avoid naming and blaming. Above is the response to my Support ticket about my relatively recent issue with the game marking you as AFK for Remake if you are standing still as Teemo for a prolonged period of time. Let me begin. Ok, first of all, I was interacting with the game. I was in lane absorbing XP and, due to Masteries, gaining gold. While not directly impcting through damage, I am interacting with the game. Second of all, if I end up getting First Blood at the cost of the first 1-2 waves of minions, how is that hurting my team? I will continue to have this discussion, but I wanted to post this here to state one thing.

If Teemo's Passive can result in you being marked as AFK, this is a warning to other Teemo players that you run the chance of being marked as AFK by Remake if you plan on trying early cheese kills that involve prolonged invisibility through Camouflage.

Your strategy IS detrimental to your team. I still can't fathom how you think intentionally not CSing and giving your lane opponent free farm is a valid strategy. I viewed the match history of the matches you tried this in and the matches you win are the ones you 100% get carried in. A few of your games your team is massively ahead yet you are still way behind in good despite receiving tons of global gold from your team taking towers

Excluding the Remake games, if I recall, I lost one game and won 2-3 with a pretty epic gold advantage at the end.

Anways, that's not the point I'm making here. My point is, this shouldn't be marked as AFK. My point is, doing something out of the ordinary to give your Jungler an easy gank for Kill and Assist gold and then leaving your lane empty for you to farm afterwards is not AFK. My Ancient Coin strategy is questionable, agreed, but the very action of using Camouflage to trick your opponent should not be marked as AFK. The latest I didn't interact was 3 minutes from the VERY start of the game. From the leash, that's only about a minute of not moving/interacting with the opponent.

Then go stealth in a bush. You can move around without breaking stealth.

Then you are easy to predict! Everyone expects Teemo to stealth in a bush.

I hate Teemo players that sit there afk in stealth for long periods of time, it's frustrating and I've reported them before.

sorry OP you wont get sympathy from many people here on the boards.

And people that don't see the upsides of it won't see my sympathy as well, stealthing has done me better than not, even if the uses are rare.

it's one thing to use stealth for an advantage, but to sit there stealth for 3 minutes, is not helping anything.

Yes you may get a kill and can free farm for a lil bit, however the entire time you were sitting stealth watching them free farm doesn't make them have a gold deficiency, because those waves they got to farm prior to you snagging a kill didn't do anything .

Like lets say you're afk stealth for the first 3 minutes of them game, and the enemy happens to get all the CS during this time, then you get first blood.

He still gained 436 just from CSing alone, while you soaked up 1g per minion death if you are using the mastery and some gold per minion death/ and the passive gold per 5 seconds with item 3301 plus they gained all the Exp from those minions as well, so they aren't as far behind as you'd like them to be.

when you could have say hid in the tri bush for instance if you're top and come up behind them either snagged a kill or forced a flash + the may have backed and lost on EXP+Gold.

Not the issue at hand, it's the fact that sitting at lane waiting for minions is enough to trigger the afk manager because the game thinks that you're afk or some shit.

Heard a report of someone claiming that they lost a ranked match because of that.

Candyxo1 votes

That's not true at all, the AFK alert does not actually trigger until 4 minute mark.

You can test it yourself in a custom game and stand still doing nothing to see when the pop up is shown and view the timer on your screen.

The person that claims they lost a ranked match to being AFK and claim it was prior to minions spawning is most likely not being truthful!

Unless there is an actual bug that is occurring that is triggering the AFK timer sooner than it should (in which case this needs to be reported in the bug section) otherwise anyone that is making this false claim is just looking for a LP boost from Riot, and they wont do things like that.

Your best bet to prevent being marked as afk is to idk NOT be afk? Don't pretend to be afk? Want to invis as teemo without being marked afk? Walk around in a bush.

Super simpler stuff!

JayHog19921 votes

Tell him that, honestly, I don't tend to go invis often or try sneaky tactics.

I was just responding to you because of what you had said and 'heard'.

I didn't expect a thread about justifying any Teemo strategy to get upvotes.

Because absorbing EXP and getting passive gold is what any afk support builder can do. Just because you're in stealth and absorbing EXP and getting passive gold, it still counts as AFK because anyone can walk to turret and not touch anything.

That's the first point for you.

You should not be punished by Riot for playing a character and using a part of their kit as intended But then again part of the hiring process for Riot involves being chump picked on and bullied in school with zero emotional development.
