Yuumi really makes me think what the term "symbiosis" means.

Symbiosis: Interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association, typically to the advantage of both. Or a mutually beneficial relationship between different entities.

In most cases of the animal kingdom,

  1. Symbiosis is achieved mutually and either party can survive without the other, but has great benefits when they cooperate.
  2. Or each party has a deficit and team up together to be a strong relationship.

The current issue with Yuumi is that she breaks the above rules. A. She cannot survive on her own. Even waveclear or peel. B. Her benefits on her partner is very "stat" orientated. In this game stats are low priority compared to utility. C. An ADC+Yuumi is simply not enough to 1v2 the lane. D. She is way too ally dependent. And since supports decide the gambits in botlane, it is contradictory.

I'm very confused of how much numbers will be needed to alleviate the burdens of the laning partner to make this a "mutual symbiosis". Currently now, there are a lot of comments of people playing Yuumi. But not about the paired experience of the ADC and it seems painful. Thus my ally's quote.

"If that is so. Isn't the ADC protecting Yuumi at this point?"

No. It is not the exclusive domain of supports to make the plays. This is an Ezreal main attitude.
