I think Lux's early game should be nerfed

LegacyDAP··6 votes·893 views

I don't think there is any reason for a mage to be able to proc Thunderlord's everytime it's up by pressing E and autoing, while also not running out of mana by using it just to clear minions or zone.

Can we change the cooldown on it and make it longer, or make it cost more mana? It should have the same ending cooldown and mana (possibly better) at full rank, but right now I find her early game to be strong for a mage that scales so well into mid and late game.

If you think Lux is bad, try laning against a good Zyra. She can proc TD from nowhere near you in a half second at level 2.

Zyra doesn't really scale. Lux scales extremely hard, but they both have the same really annoying early game.

SchmidttyGames2 votes

Oh, Zyra most certainly scales. It just takes more skill to really effectively use her full power. If she has Rylai's and you get caught in her Ultimate with 2 or more plants...you're just in pain. God forbid there are more than 2 because you're dead. Lux can cheese you from a great distance with her ultimate, and I consider the only thing about her that really sucks. Everything else about her you can deal with largely with awareness and positioning. How did the song go? "Slide...to the left!"

The problem isn't her damage, it's her zoning potential. It costs no mana and she's able to use it in lane constantly to zone you from CS very easily. If she does manage to hit you with her E (which isn't hard might I add) she can just zone you off with her passive because it's proc thunderlords if you walk up to cs. She's able to do too much with one ability and having it be up very consistently in lane.

Also Zyra scales with level not gold, all her damage comes from base powers, and the same things you said with Lux can be said the same for Zyra. Dodge Zyra's Q and stay away from her plants when they're up. Zyra will eventually fall off in mid lane because the only items that are good on her are Rylai's and MPen items.

The cheesing with the ultimate isn't the thing that sucks about Lux, it's her ability to easily carry herself to mid-late game where her extreme spike is because of how safe and oppressive her laning can actually be.

Dodging Zyra's Q isn't the point. A good Zyra player isn't trying to hit you with her Q most of the time. She's trying to awaken a bunch of plants to do the work for her. The only time you ever aim directly at a player is when you're trying to also plant seeds simultaneously, which has no counter, by the way. Zyra's Q-W-W, even if you're standing on top of it, will spawn 2 plants, proc TD, and you have to run 750 away from the Thorn Spitters before they stop punishing you unless you're willing to risk hitting fighting her plants. I would argue that they are a far more effective zoning tool than Lux's E.

I've had people waiting under tower totally unwilling to come out because of what Zyra can do. She's actually the only Support I've seen this happen with.

I would say Ahri and Morgana would good choices into a Lux lane. Katarina also does well given she does tons more damage than Lux can output herself. Unless they're running mana regen runes, I doubt she's going to be able to constantly spam E all the time or they'd be out of mana in a few rotations.

Her abilities are very telegraphed so it shouldn't be as hard to dodge the skillshots. As well, Lux struggles late game the same way as Ahri in that her damage starts to drop off. However, in the case of the latter, she has True damage to at least not become completely useless whereas a late game tank will definitely eat her.

Her E costs 130 mana per cast at max rank.

That is more than the majority of ultimate abilities.

TOO BAD WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HER EARLY GAME

Even at rank one, 70 mana is still at or above average for a basic ability.

Also, is your name a reference to Danganronpa?

But her mana pool and mana regen allows her to use it multiple times in lane, around 8-9 times in lane (considering you are even using it that much).

It's an autoproc thunderlord's and the combo does about 200~ damage at level 3. If you don't hit them you zone them off the wave for a bit if you throw it correctly.

It's not even the damage that bothers me, it's the range and zoning + waveclear on it. It just makes it very easy for her to get morello and just start oneshotting people. She never has to be in harms way to get snowballing.

Also my name isn't a reference to Danganronpa

Stand at the maximum range of Lux E, near the caster minions. She'll toss it and probably press E again, immediately, so during her cast animation immediately run back. Most likely, you'll be out of the AoE when it explodes. If not, just stay away from her whilst her passive is on you, so she can't trigger it.

Easy.

And this is why nobody will take you serious

Top performing? Are you trolling?

Lux isnt even a tier 1 mid laner right now and i could name over 10 mid laners better than her.

While she not as bad as she was before as the rylais nerf bought her closer to the top tiers but shes still like tier 2, you have to be a low elo player to think that lux is broken while syndra/viktor/cass/ryze/leblanc/ahri/etc exist, jesus some players really are completely clueless.

LegacyDAP2 votes

I would say Lux is almost on par. And she literally is the top performing right now according to OP.GG are you clueless? I'd say Lux is better than Viktor and on par with Ahri at least.

She has a 51%~ win rate on plat and above, which equals to 11/48 position out of mid laners (and this is just win rates alone, alot champs mid laners like ryze have abysmal win rates yet they are ridiculously broken atm).

Stop posting and embarrassing yourself.

LegacyDAP2 votes

Ryze's win rate is actually really low. Only abysmal when the player is good. I'm not saying that these champions aren't strong right now. I'm saying Lux's early game is very easy to reach currently because of how good it is. You're embarrassing yourself by not even bringing up points of why I'm wrong other than that "other mid laners are better."

It's practically like saying Hecarim shouldn't be nerfed because Lee Sin, Ivern, Vi, and Shaco all are better than him.

no. she's fine. learn to dodge skill shots.

She's the top performing mid right now.

good.

LegacyDAP2 votes

You're not going to refute that with any facts of your own? I mean, you obviously disagree with me and think she's fine. You could at least explain why.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

She is in the top quarter with <52% win-rate.

She isn't exactly dominating the mid-lane like some other picks have and are.

LegacyDAP2 votes

Winrate doesn't matter if you do well at all stages of the game. She kind of is dominating with a pickrate like that, but I will agree not as much as some other picks like Syndra or Leblanc.
