Junglers, Remember Your Top Lane!

  • For starters, helping your top laner can easily help you secure Rift Herald.

  • It opens your Top laner to roam mid to help.

  • In some cases (Fiora, Renekton, Riven, etc.) your Top laner will become capable of 1v2, 1v3, sometimes even 1v4'ing the enemy team very early into the game. This is something that not many other laners are capable of (ADC's require items and are behind in levels early, most mid laners require at least 3+ items before they can burst enemy champions fast enough).

  • Most top laners are very good split pushers and can make up for a struggling bot lane during mid game when everyone else is grouped (In cases where bot failed to take the enemy outer tower).

  • If you take top lane tower early into the game you can easily contest dragon 5 v 4 as the enemy top will either have to shove his lane out or be missing a lot of cs to his second outer tower.

  • Ganking top lane when your top laner is winning WILL get you fed as well. If your top laner can solo the enemy top, imagine how much easier he's going to kill the enemy top with you right there helping him. Not only will you get an assist or kill but also EXP (which will make up for your lost time in the jungle!).

Attempting to gank other lanes is fine, but NEVER abandon your top laner. He or she is apart of your team just like everyone else and helping him or her has just as much advantage, if not more in some cases, as you helping anywhere else. Just because he's on an island doesn't give you an excuse for not helping him.

If your top laner is upset because you are not visiting his lane, think before raging back at him. If he is doing well in his lane what do you have to lose by going to help his lane? Even if other lanes are losing you free your top laner from their lane by helping them, which means you will have a strong ally to come help you with your losing lanes. Basically that means you gain a HUGE advantage in helping him secure his lane faster. Now instead of having the burden of helping the lanes by yourself, you have a powerful top laner doing the work for you.

Top Lane IS apart of League! Remember your Top Lane, they are just as important as all the other lanes!

Top lane used to be my prefered lane to gank follower by mid and bot.

Explanation: Top: large chase zone and allota room for my slow bulky tanks to do their thing. Also a much easier lane to control minion flow in, as there is more room and hence more time to do so. This made top an appealing lane to gank.

Mid: since I could gank from both sides, I generally didn't have to do much thinking as I could simply pass on by while on my way top or to scuttle. If it turned out a good gank opportunity then awesome, if not I get to scare the enemy and possibly force a panic flash.

Bot: Short lane, warded 80% of the time (rendering tp counter ganks a possibility) and usually has a peel heavy champ present to shut down a gank.

But due to this seasons emphasis on adc's, dragon and the inability for many champs to effectively solo it as well as the first turret blood (on a weakend bot tower). Top has become a far less valuable as;

  1. Rift herald only helps one dude, is most valuable in spitting and is a risky objective (due to how long it takes to bring down and the dmg it deals) while drag helps the whole team and is easier to rally a team around.
  2. Most top laners in low elo tend to sit in lane all day farming kills and shoving without wards which more often than not causes them to throw their lead to ganks and tilt. Bot tends to group more willingly with or up mid or vice versa (easy to make mid follow the fed bot+jg majority).
  3. Bot turret is even easier with 3 people and its weaker stats
  4. Mid tower has always been a great objective as it opens up allot of map freedom.

Because of this the priority list changed this season to mid>bot>top. Every individual is as valuable as the next in gold needs, but objectively speaking there's much more to be gained from mid and bot lane than top lane. Simple as that.

If we need to weigh it up: Bot+mid vs top+mid. Both get 2 towers but bot is easier to take and a shoved bot lane draws attention away from barron pit while having an easier inner turret to take (possibly making it 3V2)

Adc/apc generally has more reliable dmg output as the game progresses because you ain't gonna kite an adc, the adc gonna kite you.

Most top champs either drop off unless they keep farming kills or don't scale well period.

It's very easy to setup and take drag with bot and chain them with maintained vision control. If you take herald (generally a minute or 2 before barron spawns) you ain't gonna take barron the second it spawns in most situations.

More potential kills in bot.

The only thing to gain from ganking top that cant be gained from bot is herald, which generally won't be given to a jungler (reducing appeal) and wil instead offer a better split push (which earth and flame drake also achieves)

Jungler here.

There's no reason to get rift other than give it to a laner, and guess what, it's NOT even good unless you split push.

Top laners always want to get camped by jungler - only exception is Gangplank because he's broken. Stop being selfish and realize there are two other lanes.

If you counter pick yourself, deal with it. If you lose 1v1's and you can't trade, deal with it.

Here's some actual bias - don't expect me to gank a tilty top laner. You know who I'm talking about

Rift Herald is very useful as a Jungler. When you are Jungling your entire time in the game is spent moving which means you will proc the rift Herald probably more than a laner would (obviously depending on who the laner is and how ambitious they were at remembering to proc it). In my opinion it's far more efficient to give the Rift Herald to the Jungler as it will help both ganking and clear speeds. Gank faster, gank more often, stronger ganks. How is that not motivation enough to let the Jungler take the good ol' Herald?!

Also, as per your bias... 3 of those champions that you posted are probably the hardest snowballing champions in the game. What reason on earth could you possibly have for not ganking for them? If they are upset at you for not ganking then you are contributing to your own failure as it's not hard to satisfy them nor even unreasonable as a Jungler.

Top lainers, Remember to be a real MAN.

Top lane is the most manly of all lanes. It is a sacred duel between two worthy, honorable, manly oponents. There is no need for silly junglers and thier sneaky tactics. If your're playing top you need to remember that you are a silent, alone and manly monument of courage and honor. If enemy jungler ganks you - good, double kill or at last he wastes his time when our brave jungler see the opportunity and takes a dragon. If mid ganks you - good, our mid is open to roam or take turret. You dont need any weak jungler to feed you, who are you? An adc? NO, you can do it by your(manly)self and, by the love of stacks, you will.

Top lainer - remeber who you are!

This is pretty funny tbh. XD

But let's be real, Junglers are pansies who will gank anywhere. I wish top was a duel, but I find myself camped by enemy Junglers more when I am in the Top lane than I find my own Jungler ganks for me. I think Junglers need to be more aware that they shouldn't allow their top lane to be camped by an enemy Jungler as there are a lot of advantage which make it very worth to invest your time into your top.

At 100 stacks, your next basic attack consumes all stacks to deal 15 / 270 bonus magic damage. Works versus structures, damage halved for ranged champions._

You act like a Jungler is never alone... Have you never been counter jungled, or counter jungled someone else for that matter? Tell me how many junglers out there would consider invading into your Jungle knowing that they're going to have to duel someone who has Rift Herald? There's no meme about it. As a Jungle, you still hit towers.. Unless you are one of those Junglers who doesn't push his allies lane when they back or die. The Rift Herald is viable on mid, top, and the jungler. If you're unable to figure out how to use it then the meme is probably you. lol

I agree that top lane could use more jungle presence, I really prefer it doesn't become overbearing. Top laners can carry, sure, but too much jungle presence top lane is just going to invite counterganks, and even camping, from the enemy jungler, making it harder for me to do my job. Double so if I know I can wipe the floor with my opponent. I've honestly learned to just never expect the jungler at all in lower ELO. I know how far I am from all the "important" objectives. Just come by if I look like I need help, or maybe the occasional gank or two, but please don't coddle me with ganks.

Solid. There are numerous meta tops that become absolute monsters if they get ahead, and if they are capable of managing their lead, then the enemy top will never be able to 1v1 them.

If you kill a top laner that doesn't have TP, help your laner shove the wave into the turret, this accomplishes a few things:

  • Helps jungler with exp tax

You get ahead as exp from minions and the kill would put you ahead of what you normally would through just camps alone, not to mention the gold you get from the kill or assist.

  • Your laner gets additional cs free from risk of the enemy JG

Often times after a laner dies and one of your lanes attempts to push and back, the enemy jungle will attempt to respond and answer by killing your laner. If you stay and help them push, you deny this possiblity. Often times in lower elo the jungle will attempt to fight you and kill your laner. In these situations you can often 1v2 and kill the jungler. Even if he trades 1 for 1, it's worth it for your team because it's an additional kill or assist for your lane, and your team got a 450 gold instead of 300, in addition to additional experience, AND as a jg you can continue to push the wave for free exp and gold.

  • It can single handily decide top lane

If you gank top and get your laner a kill verses someone like Pantheon or anyone without teleport, they're fucked. Shit out of luck. Lane is over, if your laner plays it properly. The result of such an early gank for the laner without teleport is dramatic. They die and your laner gets additional experience and gold and free farm, and the enemy laner loses a potentially giant wave, and has a level disadvantage.

That's gg for top.

This of course also applies to any situation in which your laner just got a kill and they are low in health and/or mana.

You want to keep solo killing the top laner if you have a good match up. Don't take tower if you are doing well. Zone out laner, and kill him when he gets greedy putting him further behind. Or pysh and roam. Then take tower and roam. Your jungler should really only help you get a small lead. Team should get the tower with you. Bot, mid then top. Unless you are trading turrets.
