Irelia: The Will of the Riot Fallacy

Lets start with RiotSolcrushed on a response to the thoughts behind irelia changes

> The simplified process went something like this Q is awesome It sucks in teamfights - boring dash Lets make Q awesome in teamfights Ok now she gets to the backline and sticks on them really well She basically does not need to interact with tanks outside lane anymore if playing well, so that's a good weakness to have True damage makes no sense on a character who is going to fight squishes mostly Mixed damage makes a character decent against a tank in lane, but leads to them having a harder time against them later Profit

This one may be a math balance oversight but it still is an issue that shouldn't be there. Irelia's rank 1 and rank 2 of Bladesurge(Q) is literally less damaging than an auto for her. Before the hotfix nerf it was only rank 1, slightly less bad but still not okay. For the boards members that complained about being one shot by it please note that it is ~60% lower damage than pre-VGU at all ranks. Her early game is provably weaker thanks to that, luckily it is noticed according to a recent riot response on her. The solution is easy lets not her be not the only champ in the game who's single target spell (and primary spell at that) be weaker than her auto's.

Reav3 responses to the discontent about the hotfix

These are responses that the community has seen often about riot keeping an eye on champs after changes are made. Made a statement about her post hotfix performance showing some growth and stabilizing, it looks like it is true for her primary role and one offrole but can't be said globaly.

RiotRepertoir response about her jungle offrole discrepancy treatment

This one is a response about discrepancy of her jungle offrole performance, and the discontent of the treatment that put her in the current state, despite "the intent is that jungling is still a legitimate option for Irelia upon release".

MapleNectar response about riot shying away from adjusted damage to unit types to force champs in/out of roles

Hope you are seeing the pattern by now. This ideal was followed through when the Q bonus damage to monsters was removed. The consistency of keeping to that ideal was broken the very next day with her E dealing 50% damage to monsters when she was okay before.

This is a point that yes only affects a smaller percent of the total player base, but it is a real notable percent despite what others will want to claim otherwise. Riot may want to give words about keeping an eye on her and they will give the attention if it looks like it is needed. Well it was needed since mistakes was made pre-release to her balance. This is a very much action speaking louder than words, of it you can make a global hotfix nerf within a day of release, it will be nice to see attention to reverting such a recent mistake, we know you have the tools for it.

I don't like her rework honestly. She feels like a crappy version of the old Irelia but with more utility in the form of a disarm and a possible AOE stun. I say possible because it's quite easy to move out of when you know what to look for, and even if you don't dodge it it only lasts .75 seconds. The thing is that if you dodge her stun, she not only loses the damage + stun but she also loses the free Q.

I especially dislike the passive. It feels incredibly clumsy to only have it stack via ability hits and not auto attacks. The on-hit damage per stack feels extremely low, too. Her old W will almost always outperform this thing.

Without being AP her W just isn't worth using unless you manage to time it during the time that you will be stunned. Since it doesn't heal you like Yi's meditate does (they have similar uses) and the damage from it is nothing to write home about, you don't really want to use it unless there's nothing else you could be doing.

That's the wrong way to think about the skill: it's supposed to be used for things like waiting out CC, stalling while getting turret dove–and most importantly–mitigating their burst so you can turn on them while they're CDs are down after you've taken reduced damage.

I know it's supposed to be used for waiting out CC. Did you even read my post?

"her W just isn't worth using unless you manage to time it during the time that you will be stunned. "

The whole point is that that's the only time you really want to use it, and it's still better to dodge the CC in the first place so you can actually do real damage.

What? Its just natural riot policy : release a new champion/kit way overpowered because the patch after you're releasing a skin!

It's not that they can't balance shit, it's that theyre taking their community for idiots

DONT PAY FOR THE NEXT IRELIA SKIN, RIOT DOES NOT DISERVE ANYONE'S MONEY
