One of the problems I have with Yasuo isn't on Yasuo himself, but on players who play him

The problem in question is the fact that people don't know when it is viable to pick him.

I've got tired of going through those situations:

  1. Fourth pick on my team is going top. My team already has an AD mid laner Zed, an AD jungler LeeSin and an ADC that is not Corki. Our team needs an AP champion, preferably one that is tanky or has a lot of other survivability mechanisms, examples: Vladimir Lulu Ryze Chogath

Fourth pick picks Yasuo anyway. Even though Zed and the ADC do not have knockups and Lee Sin only has his ult as a knockup, and it is very hard to use on the correct targets.

  1. A player on my team picks Yasuo, even though he is the first pick. Enemy team counterpicks him with a champion that can beat him hard, for example, Chogath Darius Fizz. In addition, they pick lots of champions with CC and ability to protect teammates should Yasuo tries to pick off them. For example, Lulu.

It becomes way worse when the rest of my team do not build to support Yasuo with knockups, or at least to compensate for his weakness, such as being melee and being AD.

  1. Enemy has picked Lulu mid and Chogath top. Both are counterpicks to Yasuo. In addition, enemy team has champions that are capable of denying Yasuo during teamfights, such as Vi Nautilus

My teammate picks Yasuo anyway, even though the enemy team has everything needed to counter Yasuo during all stages of the game.

  1. My team has a mid laner such as Lux, my jungler is a MasterYi, and my support is Morgana.

This team looks like a solid, strong team, but there is a problem. This team is extremely squishy. If our top laner do not pick a tank to compensate, our team will be easily blown up. Also, we don't have a champion capable of initiating teamfights, which is another reason why the top laner should pick a tank.

Our top laner pick Yasuo, though.

  1. My team is TwistedFate mid, TahmKench support, Amumu jungle, and Twitch ADC.

My top laner picks Yasuo. Generally, since our team has magic damage, is tanky enough, and the enemy team is not all that strong against Yasuo, he would be a solid pick. But there is a problem. Our team does not have knockups besides Yasuo himself. This means that our team has no means of supporting Yasuo and letting him have a great impact during teamfights.

That is generally the problem. And unfortunately I recognize that this is not a problem with Yasuo himself, so no nerfs or reworks to Yasuo will solve this. The problem is that people pick Yasuo when he should not be picked. People don't understand that Yasuo is a risky pick and that you can't always count on being capable of snowballing since the enemy team can be smart enough to beat him. Yasuo is a high risk, high reward pick; but most of time the risk is not worth the reward.

Yasuo isn't a bad pick, though. He can be extremely good if your team can support him, can compensate for his weakness (being squishy, being AD, being melee) and more important: not relying entirely on him to carry.

To be honest, people on Bronze to Platinum generally lack the knowledge of building proper team compositions.

The worst kind of Yasuo is the one who first picks him and DEMANDS your team plays champions with knockups.

When I play yasuo I never assume the team will bring any knock ups or displacement to ult off of. I do not think he is strong enough to warrant an entire team building around him anymore. If there happens to be someone else with a knock up, then great. I use him more as a split pusher in the top lane than anything else because I find that I play him better in smaller skirmishes than 5v5 team fights.
