I think this game was more balanced back in beta
And I know what I'm talking about. Surely, you might've heard legends about TF golden card being aoe or Jax dodging towers. But do you really think the other champions were weak? Here is the thing: unlike nowadays, all champions back in beta were strong in some field. Nobody would even think about "why would I pick that champion, if this champion fills the same role and does everything better?"
Today it's like only 20 champions are playable out of 123. Why? Because only in really rare cases won't I feel handicapped facing against champion with the same role, but with overloaded kit, too much emphasized strengths or mobility snowball. You already know who those champions are, the stars of our beloved LoL game. You already know the champions you would never pick, unless something of the following applies:
- You like the champion appearance.
- You are a masochist and enjoy losing your lane to more popular champions
- Meta is too mainstream for you
If you picked for example
as ADC, how can you be sure that you are able to create as much impact on the game as your enemy
will, given equal skill?
against
toplane?
against
midlane?(yes, ppl used to play Eve mid)
whoever against
jungle?
against
? (although braum is in permaban)
Take a look far back into the past and learn, is this kind of game we're playing right now, was what Riot strived for, back in the day (considering balance only)? Morello, the main nerfbat wielder might know some answers to this. I think ALL THE CHAMPIONS except chosen few were nerfed too much. That's why we're having these flashy one second teamfights, the never changing game champion picks, the never changing permaban champions.
