how to fix the punishment system 101(and ranked)

1)Remove ranked bans for being toxic: banning somebody from ranked for being toxic is about as effective as saying a vegan cant eat meat for saying they like pie.

Some players dont even play ranked or dont care if they get ranked banned and throwing them into normal drafts and forcing them to win makes no sense

INSTEAD

apply ranked bans for those who do VERY poorly in ranked over a consecutive period of games (IE three of your"10 game match historys") if you are periodically bad for over 75% of your ranked games for the past 10-30 games (whatever number in between might work to avoid punishing people for going on tilt) its obvious that they need to stay out of ranked and go practice normals it makes more sense to ban them temporarily from ranked and force them to go win games to gain access to it.

  1. 10 bans: I dont really care if we had no bans or 10 bans but a common solution (as sugested by many players and I thought I'd include it in this list) is to have 1 ban per team member

for a total of 5 bans per team 10 total.

Wont give all the power to one person to avoid trolling and will still give more bans

  1. add vote to kick option in lobby or remove the penalties for leaving Q Simple enough but in solo duo there needs to be a vote to kick option (or vote to dodge the Q) with a 3/2 majority vote needed or there needs to be no punishment for leaving Q

Nobody should be punished to dodge to avoid a troll or toxic jerk, and if they are too afraid to dodge nobody should be forced to put up with them for 20minutes thats only riot telling us "hey its ok to be an asshole in lobby and as long as you dont show signs of it in game(being toxic) then only the people who are putting up with your shit will get banned!"

  1. Bring back the tribunal I know a few rioters said it was in the works but riot cant handle all the reports, thats why they made automated punishments. there needs to be a system where a real person looks at the report instead of a system that just punishes based on frequency and past reports and never takes any honor or good things into account

The easiest way to prove that an automated system is flawed would be to ask players post game to report you for verbal abuse and soon enough youll get chat and ranked banned

thats all I got tbh

DISCLAIMER: none of these are actually any of my ideas I just am posting the few ideas I think are relevant to the game with my thoughts on each one

edit: love the downvotes... who cant read the disclaimer. this is not about what I personally think should change, this is about WHAT needs to changes and my personal thoughts on each one

The punishment for really bad players is losing rank. The punishment for toxic jerks that think they can justify abusing others is bans. This is never going to change. Stop being toxic.

All your requests have been argued about before, so honestly I doubt these will get changed.

  1. I honestly would rather players banned from ranked for being toxic to be banned from the game for a period of time, not just ranked, but they have to be put somewhere can serve their "punishment". Also if they are toxic in ranked odds are they will be toxic in normals as well, leading to further action against them. Their time in normals might mellow them out as well as make them realize they need to tone it down in ranked because people don't appreciate the way they treat others.

As for punishing "bad" players this system is horrible. The "punishment" for people who do poorly in ranked is that they drop divisions and tiers. Also your suggested system is very punishing to players who are selfless and don't mind sacrificing themselves for their team. Good play isn't easy to figure out just by looking at KDA and other stats, which is imo why RIOT never bothered adding in this system. It makes it so you start caring about what you can do to make yourself look better in the game then how you can help make your team win the game.

  1. Bans is a problem that always comes up. The point of bans is to remove pocket picks for individual players. Honestly, I can go either way on this issue. More bans will allow people to move overbearing things more, but honestly there will never be enough bans to remove all the "OP" things out there in the game, so it doesn't change the fact that I'll need to learn how to deal with those champions eventually.

  2. Vote to kick or removing dodge penalties is bad because all it will do is encourage queue dodging. As soon as someone picks something not "meta" close minded players will immediately vote to kick/dodge and constantly do it until their team picks "correct" champions. While this feature is useful against toxic people, it creates other problems of enforcing a specific meta onto other people by the players in which they have no right to enforce. This enforcement also causes stagnation and won't allow for new champion picks to come through until a pro picks it so it is "accepted" by the community. Before Keanne played Urgot mid, anyone who picked it would have flamed/dodged them, but now it is acceptable.

  3. Tribunal is hit and miss. I'm fine with the automated system because I'd get tired of having to look at case after case of kids who yell racist/homophobic/racial slurs game after game and having to dole out punishments. This system helps lessen the work that people have to do with tribunal and only really requires people to look at cases involving individuals who are up for say bans or permabans.

1)I think I messed up the idea how I worded it: They way you would actually get punished for doing poorly is actually being reported by your team for: unskilled/assisting enemy team/ feeding ect. I more meant to say there needs to be a punishment for doing so badly in ranked over a long period of time that more action needs to be taken than losing rank

MAINLY this would fix the issue of "elo hell" where players at bronze five at 0lp can keep losing games and not face any penalty because they are already at the bottom

other elo's it would possibly help out against people going on tilt who know they are going on tilt and simply just give up on a game instead of trying with the mentality of "im on tilt I cant win anyways"

  1. the bans problem isnt that we need more its that the power all lays in one person who can troll bans and ban whoever (happens alot nowadays because nobody can report for it) its a team game so why are bans not a team thing?

  2. this has been the most common argument agianst this option and I can tell you it WOULD NEVER be an issue, I cant tell you how many times (and im silver V) I pick non meta things and players dont care as long as im nice friendly and will try my best. the 3/2 majority vote is to prevent duo Q trolls and just in case somebody is an ass in champ select vote to kick/doge would handle it and give that player who got kicked a dodge penalty and everyone else is fine

  3. automated system is fine and dandy but there are cases that are punished by the automated system that a real person would not punish for

  1. I can somewhat see this being possible for being labeled unskilled enough times, but assisting enemy team and feeding aren't really you playing bad, it is an intentional bad behavior by assisting the enemy team to get a win, basically turning the game into an actual 4v6. Sure the person can suck and die, but as long as they are actually trying to help their team win, they are still playing correctly. Feeding/Assisting enemy team effectively turn it into a 4v6.

As for fixing "elo hell" I don't think its as simple a solution as kicking these players from ranked. It might help slightly, but I feel the problem requires a more extensive solution then this one.

  1. I guess you have a point, but I think the point of it just being one person it to help try and promote team cooperation. Besides it will still always come down to people not being able against specific champions no matter how many bans there are, so this doesn't bother me too much.

  2. You say that, but it doesn't change the fact that the system is exploitable and since it is exploitable, it will be abused. When dodging ranked had no punishment, people would dodge all the time. All they had to do was wait a longer time. Also people who didn't get their desired role would often pick Teemo and go to whatever other role they could, hoping their teammates would dodge instead of them. If the game went through, then they'd just afk or feed and rage all game. You seem to believe that people won't do these negative things, but it has been proven many times over that giving these windows of "lenience" towards summoners in ranked will lead to them abusing it as much as they can in hopes of getting a win. That is why there are so many "punishments" now for dodging.

  3. I'm fine with the automated system mainly because I don't say anything unimportant to the game. For most people who are against the system, I feel they are often saying things that are usually offensive, even though they might think nothing wrong of it. They may not offend themselves or their friends, but they are bother their teammates or possibly even the other team if they are spamming in all chat.

  1. Perhaps there should be a system in place where being reported for unskilled (unintentional bad play) over a long period of games will effect your mmr IE if you get reported to much for unskilled riot sends you an ingame little pop up saying something like : "Due to recent unskilled play on your account your account has been lowered to (Division) (tier)" when about to be demoted or when being promoted it would say something about not being promoted due to unskilled reports and it would drop you down as if you just lost a series

  2. 10 bans seems more reasonable so at least the team can decide what happens instead of it all on one person

  3. there are always exploitable things in game (the easiest I can think of is the super long range ward on in mid lane near the outer turrets you can place a ward in the bush over the long wall (well out of range of the ward) but because you try and place it in an unregistered area it goes past it and lands in the bush)

just because it can be exploited or used badly doesnt mean the majority of players will be like that.

  1. RIOT's current stance for unskilled reports are more to vent frustration towards the player. I say this is fine for normal queue's, but I don't think it should be implemented in ranked play even if you play poorly because you already lose mmr/lp from a loss, there isn't a reason to make you drop further just because individual players disliked how you play.

  2. You can argue this point with me all you want, but I'm fine with the way the current bans are set up. All it seems like is a small form of appeasement to the other 4 players who didn't luck out into first pick. If you are honestly playing ranked, you should be willing to face anything in any role, so it doesn't really matter who bans what as long as you know what you are doing. Also since you seem to be pushing for 5 for each team, I'm against that. Once it goes to 10 bans total, people are going to start asking for 12 and 14 and it is just going to keep increasing. Sure, I say the ban count can possibly go up once they reach a higher number of champions, say 200, but it doesn't really serve a purpose even at that point. There will still always exist champions that other players will get stomped with regardless of how many bans everyone has, so sure Nidalee Azir Riven MasterYi and Shyvana got banned, but other team took Shaco and stomped us.

  3. Yes, maybe you won't use it, but if there is an exploit that already exists and by creating a new problem to "fix" this issue it creates another exploit, it defeats the purpose of making the new system. All you are doing is investing a lot of time and money to create a different problem you have to resolve eventually down the line, making this "fix" somewhat pointless. Only when there would be a drastic improvement in player behavior is when they should implement a change.
