The fundamental shift the game has taken

Wouldn’t feel as bad if we ever got legitimate and honest feedback. There’s so many well-thought out posts and well-written concerns on the boards and they’re legitimately ignored by Riot.

They do a dev corner post and acknowledge that “dmg is too high” and “we agree with the community”, then make changes to the game that are clearly and definitively in the opposite direction of where they say they want to go.

Just be honest, Riot. Chinese money machine TenCent wants the damage to be equivalent to a 10 min mobile game and if that means you disenfranchise your own community, so be it.

I don’t wrong you for it. Money talks. However, please do us the decency of just telling us that. Together we built a great community and very entertaining (albeit frustrating in recent seasons) game. The slow and silent killing of the community is unbelievably disrespectful.

They don't listen to the boards much. However I can 100% confirm they do listen to reddit.

Them listening to reddit is why the game is the way it is sadly.

Reddit bitched and bitched for no tankiness and only burst, and we got it.

That reminds me of when Reddit and the forums complained constantly that "new Juggernaut Skarner is too weaaaaaaak. Give him 345 base MS, the best base AD in the game, 200% AD on his ult, 120 MS on shrines level 1, and a shield with less cooldown and more %hp than Nautilus W!"

I loved that patch so much.

yeah let's not pretend boards didn't do the same thing lol

That's why I keep saying that a tank meta is the best meta you can have. If your meta is "protect the carries", then all you have to do as an assassin is kill that carry and you win the fight. Play a mage and poke down the team so they engage at half-health, play a similar comp but with a Vayne. The words "Tank Meta" are a synonym for "Balanced Meta."

Mid-Late Season 5 was the best and most-diverse meta we have ever had for this reason. An Assassin meta just means that damage is so overloaded that you can macro your combo and kill any champion in range no matter if it's a Maokai or Anivia.

And then you realize if there's tank meta then assassins can't really kill ADCs, cuz they have to go through the tanks first. Which usually ends with assassins being cc-locked to death.

When we had tank metas, midlane was always dominated by control mages or utility midlaners. Assassins never appeared, same with bruisers on top.

Tank meta is not a "balanced meta". Tank meta is "DPS meta", or even "ranged DPS meta". Current meta actually opens a LOT of picks. All kind of mages are viable, tanks are playable but not overbearing (tank tops are stronger than jungle tanks), bruisers are strong, assassins are playable (they aren't as strong as boards make them), ADCs are playable but not so strong (and thats good, when ADCs are strong entire game resolves around them).

Also, were for sure aren't in "assassins meta"

I don't want tank meta, but it does off like 80+ more viable champs than assasin meta, and ADCs get to play too. Turning all champs possible into one combo killers isn't a strategy its more like a fighting game.

You're right but the main issue with tank metas is when itemization is screwed up to the point where tanks are outdamaging bruisers

Fighter players should be reasonably upset with the idea of Riot forcing a tank meta when in previous patches it had scenarios like buying Sunfire Cape reducing the damage of your opponent enough and giving you enough damage to auto win trades for you. Or things like Zz'Rot forcing every game into a splitpush fiesta that if you aren't something like Tryndamere you aren't going to win.

S5 is probably my most favorite recent season for the reasons you describe and the main things they broke were juggernauts. But frankly most of them were still able to be counterplayed by proper kiting so even the busted champions didn't feel too bad. Meanwhile, I'm sitting here in S8 dealing with Akali, Irelia, LB, ect...

It is so fucking sad. I loved this game up until season 7 ended, with all my heart. I was completely passionate about it for five years, non-stop. This changed twelve months ago.

Starting season 8, League turned into a oneshot fiesta and a lot of champions lost their identities. Everyone deals a massive amount of damage and everyone can splitpush. Strategic teamfights turned into three seconds of button mashing. The calm aspect of the game, the part I loved most, completely vanished. Get seen/hit first, die. We became a Call of Duty MOBA.

For the first time in my life, almost every game of League felt empty, unsatisfying or frustrating. I kept telling myself: 'be patient, there has always been rough patches.' I kept telling this to myself for twelve months. I thought something similar to the old rune system would finally return, but this pre-season is a joke as well.

After agreeing that damage is too high (almost a year of complaints in), Riot releases the new Dark Harvest, just shifts the rune stat bonuses somewhere else and introduces completely inefficient defensive stats that are not worth taking instead of adding a true buff to overall defense.

I can not take another year of frustration. It is sad, but I guess I will turn my back on this game after six years and spend my free time meaningfully again. I really do not get how Riot does not see they could slow down the decline of their game massively by just reverting the rune system and champion base stats. It seems like the Chinese internet café scene is too important, so they force twenty minute oneshot fiestas down our throat.

I just want my favorite game back, but I guess that does not happen.

They haven't admitted pretty much anything about damage during the whole Season 8, starting from pre-Season untill "World$". They ignored every complain, gutted sustain and defence, and making everything a one-shot/burst fiesta.

Even the new """Support""" is an assassin... And I really think people haven't realized yet how half-witted is such a concept in a (supposed to be) strategy game.

The hell are you on about?

Tencent has no control outside chinese marketing.

Riot didnt say damage was too high, they said frontloaded damage was too high. Most runes got their frontloaded damage nerfed and CD reduced as a result.

And of course theyre going to not respond to most posts. Have you seen how the boards treats and responds to any post by a rioter?

Pika Fox tagging back in to suck Riots dick in another post. Do you ever get tired of constantly fellating a company who clearly doesn’t give a shit about it’s community?

Only you would think responding with “Riot didn’t say damage was too high they said front loaded damage was too high.” Isn't saying the same thing Lol

The board consistently responds with other questions and upvotes to posts. Because Riot legitimately dodges the pertinent questions, however, if I made a post “Oh wow! Look at my personal Star guardian Ahri tattoo” post Riot would immediately respond..

The balance team avoids commenting because the boards is filled with knowitall assholes who will take everything out of context or just yell at them.

Non balance rioters comment because theyre here to enjoy themselves and have fun with other aspects of the game.
