What is the best way to use Sion's ult?
Just tried him for the first time post-rework, and I flubbed every damn ult by slamming into walls. Do you need to line up an opening before casting?

There's many ways to use his ult. Use it as an escape. Use it point blank for the knock up. Use it to zone the enemy off of a turret or objective. Use it to get back to lane quickly. You can stop the ult preemptively by pressing R again.
Use it point blank.
Honestly I do this pretty often. Or if there's a teamfight starting to cook up at mid and you're coming from base you may wanna ult if it seems like you can hit a couple people
Just don't do this and you'll be fine:

Edit: Instead, aspire to be more like this:
To initiate of course. It's one of the best initiations in the game.
Also late-game you can splitpush and the moment the team ambushes you you can just ult out and watch them rage in allchat.
how2sion tip 1 play him in ARAM, take out the nexus turrets, wait away and then front door the nexus with his ult
tip 2 when in danger, ult in the direction of their base to escape disrespect their ass by recalling in their base as they helplessly watch (doesnt work if they got teleport)
tip 3 just dont use it anywhre but mid lane where it's a straight line -__-
tip 4 uuh point blank, duh?
Point blank or down mid if your team has a good comp and you know they could set it up. I've had a Sion charge from tier 2 tower to the enemy first tier and hit his ult because we kept them there.
You can also cancel it with the proper timing to hop small walls.
