Is On-Hit Kog'Maw the way to go now?

just curious to see what other people have been building on him at the moment. On paper, it seems like the best option, since on-hit effects are applied in full, while his base AD only applies 55% which makes crit builds theoretically worse unless his ridiculous AS steroids more than make up for the loss in initial damage?

As an on-hit build (in theory); item 3124 item 3091 item 3153 item 3115 item 3006 item 3146

And I guess his standard ADC build would be item 3031 item 3087 item 3085 item 3036 item 3006 item 3153 or item 3139 ?

would Q max also be the best option for the AS boost and damage, since W only scales range and cooldown, or is the range increase much more important early on?

item 3142 item 3139 item 3115 item 1304 item 3033 are good kog items. AS is best on kog, and def max Q first beause of the unique passive it has, and good base damage.

item 3124 first. Then either a item 3153 or a item 3115 (based on need or preference) followed by the one you did not get. Your sustain option will be item 3146 hands down because you're dealing tons of on hit magic damage.

Also note that item 3085 seems great but the bolts do not stack up your item 3124 any faster. I also don't like this item on Kog because you should not be in range to hit 3 enemy champions at the same time anyway.

This is my current build for the Kog. You start Doran's Blade and then you either get Berzerker Greaves first back or a component of Guinsoos based on how well you are doing. By the second back, you should have both Berzerker Greaves and Guinsoos. Then you get Bork for the sustain and more damage during W. You then get a Phantom Dancer for the reduced damage Kog will take from his current target. Then a Statikk and Rapidfire Cannon combo since Kog charges it up really quick and then you can perform a lot of AoE damage with a 400 damage magical burst with Energized attacks plus Guinsoo's. Rapidfire Cannon also makes Kog have some harass for those times when he just needs to poke at the enemy, although this isn't common. This (and Kog in general) are only good if you are good at positioning and have a team to protect you, however.

You should ditch the last two, build item 3031 before PD if you don't want critical for the earlier phases of the game, and put item 3033 in the final slot. Shiv really isn't all that great at the stage of the game you'd be buying it in, and critical% is pretty redundant without an IE to back it up should you choose to go down that route. Just my two cents, though.

Trinity having half the AS while his R does crap damage pre-50% health should be more than enough to say Trinity is a noob trap item.... Then again, it's such a noob trap item now that not even Jax and Irelia are picking it up. lol.

exchange item 3153 for item 3089 , with W+rageblade+nashoors you have 3 ap-scaleing on-hits, so rabadons probably gives more AA-dps while significantly increaseing q+e+r or add a frozenmallet for more controll, or add runaans for aoe.

and yes, the on-hit works better than crit/ad on new kog

I prefer building him AD--even after pimping out your build with a slough of on-hit gear your damage still isn't comparable to a decent critical build.

item 3072 item 3046 are two items I like to have early to ease the laning phase, followed by an item 3031 and whichever other items that would be appropriate--be it item 3153item 3033 or item 3085item 3078item 3142.

On-Hit Kog seems to be the only way to go. Rageblade doesn't stack well on Kog, but admittedly, it's better than AD Kog since pressing W nearly halves your damage on each hit so your crits aren't do much to begin with while you're proc'ing on-hits twice as fast.

I'd say Rageblade, BotRK, Gunblade, Nashor's, then maybe a big AD item or a big AP item. A Void Staff might even be good at that point though since you'll be doing almost purely magic.

On-hit is good, but even though his basics attacks do less damage during W, the % maximum health magic damage does scale with AD. Crit is significantly worse than raw AD on Kog'maw right now because of this, but item 3085 is really strong if you can use it to apply on-hit effects to multiple enemy champions. Stay away from item 3094 item 3087 , but item 3142 is fine. item 3036 item 3033 are not great either, because of the magic damage from W and most on-hit items.
