Tanks Are Not Overperforming

Mobile tanky damage dealers, however, are doing great. They got EVEN MORE itemization choices. The tanks, well,...

Is it really Nautilus Rammus Shen Alistar doing well right now? Bruisers are doing exceptionally well. They already were, but now they're better and now there are even more viable bruisers to pick from.

Tanks are NOT overpowered. People are mistaking bruisers for tanks because if it builds tanky, it must be a tank, right? Just like I'd be a firefighter if I put on the hat.

Top laners like Irelia and junglers like XinZhao are doing well, but they aren't tanks. I don't care how much defense they stack, they're a defensively itemizing bruiser.

They rely on a mix of damage, mobility, CC and tankiness. Tanks rely on CC, utility, disruption and defense.

they probably should increase their armor scaling some more to offset the armor nerfs.

i kindof get what riot was trying to do. they were nerfing armor and health and wanted to increase the inherent defensive scaling on tanks to separate tanks more from bruisers.

bruisers get higher ad/lvl scaling. tanks get much higher resistance scaling. so even though theyre building the same items, tanks would end up a lot beefier.

but the thornmail nerf hit tanks harder than they probably expected. in case of sion i wouldnt worry too much. hes the exception, because the new fighter items benefit him as much as most bruisers. especially titanic hydra. the same goes for shen. titanic hydra should be pretty good in him.

but the other tanks could probably use another nudge on that resistance scaling. and a nerf to bork.

Yeah, but Sion was recently updated. He is fine, kit wise. All he needs is a very slight number tuning. The rest all feel really outdated.

Rammus Falls off ridiculously hard and his early game really isn't that great Shen's W barely does anything and is unfathomably boring Alistar 's ult really gates his kit because of the sheer damage resistance steroid it has, plus the identity issue of "Bonus AD means I want to punch things. But, I'm a tank, so my job is to output CC, not damage. But, my CDs are really high. Guess I'll go punch Leona twice then get kited." Nautilus isn't really weak, but he isn't dominating like all the cries of OP would imply.

no, he needed number tuning before this patch. having hp/ad items available alone might give him the boost he needed. really, titanic hydra should be core on him now. i think buffing him now would be too early.

if the item changes really dont help him enough, then buffs will be fine. but id be cauteous.
