Elo.

I know you all think it's just another bronzie who is complaining about my elo, which is true. I really don't understand this system. Why is my individual skill determined by the 1/18 evelynn jungle? In my honest opinion, I don't believe in ELO hell, but if Ranked is all about my individual skill level and how good I am, if I am 5/0 but someone feeds the one of my opponents and gets an 0/8, they automatically have a natural advantage over me that I couldnt control. I can do all I want, farm and try and make plays but if their team gains a natural advantage that isn't in any way shape or form of my fault. A great example is that I like to duo q often with my friends. When I duo q I almost always win not because they carry me, but because we all are able to win our lanes and do well. When I solo q, I dont have that luxury. Do I really have to get so good at the game to where I have to be able to perform well enough to carry all of my teammates and able to 1v1 every opponent and carry myself to the top? Do I have to have such a vast skill of the game where I can go 50/0 and completely dominate the game? That is a horrible system if you ask me. The other 4 players of my team shouldnt have any influence on my skill and my knowledge of the game, they shouldn't even be a part of how good I am and shouldnt influence it at all. It shouldnt be based on luck, who I get set up at all, and frankly when I first joined, I found it very hard to believe how "individually" it was yet people saying how team oriented it was at the same time. Impossible.

Because you consistently lose against the same sets of people that the 1/18 Evelynn jungle loses to and you win against the same groups of people as the 1/18 Evelynn.

The individual circumstances of one game are irrelevant.

Doing good when everyone else's on your team is doing good shows no skill. Same as doing bad when everyone else is being stomp doesn't means your bad. This leads to about a 50% winrate. What cause people to clime is winning games where their team isn't doing good and the enemy is. What causes people to go down in elo is losing games when their team is doing good but they are to heavy to carry. Also kills do not play a factor in skill otherwise (Source: http://champion.gg/statistics/#?sortBy=general.kills&order=descend) An average akali player who gets an average kills of 10.55 be op and the average soraka being 0.67 be classed as terrible. Even if you took assists into account champions Ike olaf its quite hard to get an assist for every kill but for soraka that's easy... r... done. You must remember this is an objective based game that's why your kills mean nothing to overall skill. While yes a better player can take more kills from another person if they never get any real objectives like towers, inhibs or the Nexus they will lose.

Hopefully you can see now why it's possible to allow solo players to have an impact in team based games, if you can't maybe think of a similar game like overwatch where it's team based but 1 good play by 1 player can win/lose games.

Plus let's face it you have millions of players and the service of elo boosting to show individual skill matters ... without it elo boosting can't exsist.

There is a single constant in every game you play and that's you, right? You don't have to carry, but the decisions and your mechanics will always be decided by you, and by improving those things, you'll be able to set your team up for success more often. Carrying can be done by someone who's fed, but the person who climbs is the person who is creating those opportunities for their team to become fed. This can be done for every role and if you're looking at a single game, and wondering why your rank depends on that single game, then you're already looking at it the wrong way. If you were to play 100 games, you don't need to win all 100 to climb. You only need to win 51, in other words, you can and are going to probably lose 49 games, but if you consistently win 51% of your games, you're climbing, and out of 100 games, you are the one person who has constantly been there with an impact on the game (or lack thereof if you've been losing more than you've been winning).

The question then may come, "Then why the hell do we have promotion matches?" This is purely due to the competitive nature of League and how Riot wanted to address it. It effectively puts you into high pressure games and stress tests you, this is what Riot wants since it allows their competitive scene to grow and only allows players who prove they can handle a decent amount of stress in high pressure situations (not as much as the pro players have, but it gets them to a base level to start with). If you fail your promotion matches, then you obviously made it there once, you can make it again and eventually you'll be able to break through and get promoted to the next rank.
