just to make sure. the aoe effect on the item should be an on hit effect and proc twice every second auto attack, no?

and how does that interact with fioras ult and other abilities that proc on hit effects? is it possible for every second leap to proc hydra twice?

its pretty easy if you use your brain. i know league players HATE using brains so ill explain it to you: it does proc hydra twice, but the phantom attack has no attack damage and ONLY applies on hit effects, so the second hydra proc deals 0 damage.

enjoy brain.

first of all, you dont need to be an ass about a simple question. the way devourer works is, that it causes you to auto attack twice, with the second auto attack dealing 0 damage and with the only purpose to trigger on hit effects twice.

so its NOT clear at all, how it interacts with hydra. it comes all down to how the hydra passive is coded.

UNIQUE Passive - Cleave: Basic attacks deal 20% to 60% of total Attack Damage as bonus physical damage to enemies near the target on hit (enemies closest to the target take the most damage).

the total attack damage as bonus damage is whats important. is it the total damage of the attack, or is it the total attack damage of your champion.

this might not look like a big difference, but if it just has an internal 1.0 ad scaling, then devourer should work with it.

it has nothing to do with how hydra is coded, it has something to do with how devourer is coded. even tho you made a point with the entire thing not being as obvious as i might have thought.

the second attack doesnt come from your champion itself but from some sort of a dummy. one thing that is interesting to me right now is if the phantom attack will actually hit even if your champion is blinded. it probably would be easy to fix that, but with rito you never know.

tho lets just say devourer would deal hydra damage, it really only increases your splash and not your actual damage to the target. tho then you would deal 120% splash damage and this would possibly be hotfixed instantly.

also, hydra and tiamat have a 0.05 second cooldown on their splash passive, which probably negates the interaction between those items regardless of how its coded.

well yea, information like this is actually interesting. i had no isea, that there is a cooldown on the hydra passive for example. still, 0.05 is very small amount of time. visually the attack comes from the shadow, but is that the way its coded, that its comes from a dummy, or is the animation just for flavour (like the mini wolf) and does the champion itself apply the second attack?

usually when an ability mentions total attack damage, its referring to the champions attack damage.

meaning if a champion has 200 ad, does hydra grab the 200 ad from the champion and applies it on the attack as aoe, or does it grab the damage of the attack itself? in that case a critical strike would increase the damage of the hydra passive for example. while in the first case it wouldnt.

and its also not clear if it scales with total ad if the aoe hits the target itself.

the next problem is, how does devourer interact with abilities like a gangplank q, and fioras ult? it must have an internal counter to apply to every second auto attack. meaning, does hitting a minion and then hitting something with a gangplank q trigger devourer and apply an on hit effect (lets say bork passive) twice to the q?

because technically abilities like gangplanks q count as empowered auto attacks and might actually trigger the devourer.

i have no idea though what fioras ult is. i think it might be a different case where its a spell that applies on hit effects. and even then, the question is if the devourer passive is an on hit effect itself.

hydra doesnt interact with critical strikes and the hydra splash doesnt hit the target of the auto attack. hydra uses the total AD of the champion at the time of the attack, but if its a dummy attacking, then that dummies ad is 0.

also, yes, gangplanks Q applies on-hit effects twice with devourer. but what does it have to do with fioras ult? her ult-jumps are not on-hits, they are auto attacks with a pre-set damage. since devourer doesnt factor attack damage, even th oher ult does proc devourer, it wont deal double damage.

also, gp's Q doesnt count as empowered auto attack. its exactly the same as ezreals Q, which applies on-hit effects twice aswell.

fioras ult consists of 4 strikes, that trigger on hit effects much like gangplanks q. its why hydra and tiamat before hydra are core items on her.

thats why i asked if devourer would apply the hydra passive twice every second strike of her ult.

well thats many coding-coincidences that would have to hit at the same time, but if they did, it would be kinda funny. even tho i gotta say that devourer on fiora is probably so bad it wouldnt even matter if it did apply double hydra on her ult.

she is a melee carry. i dont see quite how it would be bad on her, considering she synergizes well with items like bork. her jungling isnt even bad. shes just not as all around reliable as other champs.

her powerspike comes earlier, she benefits from other items much more and attackspeed isnt a stat she wants to build any time soon. botrk really is somewhat of a lategame/niche item.

she is more around the lines of hydra-bt-lw-ie or so.

i would test it myself, but i dont want to spend 25 minutes in a custom game to farm the gold and the stacks (seriously riuot give us sandbox mode already to test stuff like this. only has been requested a million times in 5 years).

did anybody play try it in a game already?

It won't double fiora's ult, gp's q, nasus' q, but it will proc hydra...

Bears Dont Care1 votes

It will not double for on hit effects that are "activated". It works only with "passive" on hits such as Hydra, Botrk passive, wuu style, WW's passive.

reading comprehension... i was talking about hydras passive part. a portion of the damage youre dealing is dealt in an aoe. the active is pretty much a beefed up version of that with an auto attack reset.

i was asking if devourer could cause on hit effects to apply twice on abilities that count as empowered auto attacks and trigger on hit effetcs. meaning wukongs q, gangplanks q, and i dont even know what fioras ult is supposed to be. if it counts as a spell that triggers on hit effects like ezreals q, or the individual strikes count as empowered auto attacks.

i know, that it does not apply a gangplank q twice. that wasnt what i was askin. i was asking, if the gangplank q would apply on hit effects twice with a devourer.
