If it's just as frequent and 10-20% of champions are one end and 80-90% on the other end of flavor of the month/powerful, doesn't that kind of support OPs claims?

It was back when many were wondering why Lee Sin and Riven never received real nerfs while some champs got completely gutted. IIRC their argument was that not only are these champs among the most popular in the game, but many pros enjoy playing these champions so they never get hit too hard by changes, or at least not for long before receiving compensation buffs/skins.
Kind of sucks for those that main the lesser played champions, as it makes them feel like second class citizens when it comes to getting any kind of positive changes.

See that right there's the problem. People don't understand this concept where any champion who is fed is going to seem OP, that's how a stat based game works. If you feed the hell out of your laner, or if someone somehow gets fed regardless of the scenario, they will seem op just because they are ahead.

What you said doesn't matter, I'm pointing out the misconception that lots of people have that a champion is strong just because they saw them get super fed one game. You're lying out your ass if you say that isn't a big part of the people who make those kind of complaints.

Being "OP" or not is subjective. What some people consider OP others might consider perfectly healthy.
