@riot, internally, what do you consider the advantage of being AP?
It seems there is literally no advantage to being designed as an AP champion.
It often results in being limited by mana, having worse scaling, and worse itemization than being AD.

There's more AP, it comes with lots of defensive itemization
, there is less MR on a champion's base stats than armour meaning early magic pen
can lead a mage to almost dealing true damage with each spell. CDR is prevalent,
early sustain
, being able to stack burst

So what you're saying is that the only advantage of mages forces you into a very specific play style.
Yeah, i actually see that. Most mages are pretty shit when it comes to anything outside of the singular build which makes them vaible.
Also stop acting like CDR is something which is actually prevalent to mages and AP champions, when AD champions have almost 50% more access to CDR (outside of support items) as AP champions.
The point is AP itemization is actually really strong and versatile despite what you want to claim, mages often build based on how it complements their kit and that's generally their build.

MR is also really cheap and gold efficient, and there aren't that many MPen options that you can just build, unlike lethality.
100-0ing anything in range.
While you're ranged.
And have utility.
This has nothing to do with being AP. This is an aspect of being mage.
How many AD mages are there?
Okay, now how many AP mages?
Does that answer your question?
No, not really. As the AD champions who are given kits which function a mages is actually quite high.
It seems that the only advantage to being AP is that you get access to different items. Which are actually less gold efficient as AD items anyway.
So where you get an advantage as AD early game via auto attacks and late game via scaling. Only for the ~10 minutes which comprise the mid game, does AP get an advantage. Similar to armor.
I'm worried that you are being serious. Get help.
Other than being purple instead of orange numbers, i actually don't understand how AP is at all better than AD.
The advantage of mixed damage seems to be completely lost by having access to so much armor pen, now that AD is a general stat instead of a magic stat.
Sorry CDR is now a general stat, instead of a magic stat. *
Ap items give more AP than AD itwms give AD, meaning tour kit ends up doing more generally.
Ap items are generally better, they give more relevant stats and passives. For example, you will get more out of a ludens echo than a duskblade, but duskblade lets you kill wards.
Morelloss gives 10% more cdr than ghostblade and mana, enough extra ap to make up for not having pen, and grievous wounds passive instead of movespeed, which I would call somewhat comparable with edge to ghostblade.
Just a couple of examples.
People mix up the champions kit with ap and ad.
AP is horrendous in terms of itemization, ad items right now are just straight up better. The only reason ap champions are even viable is because their kits are straight up better. AP champions can still do damage to low MR targets with little items, which is why you will only see "ap" supports like brand, zyra, and never an ad dealing support other than MF simply because of her ult.
If you want to see which itemization is truely better, see which champion is better when all their ratios are switched to ap, and visa versa. Champions with all their ratios switched to AD would be 10x better.
