So With the change to Doran's Ring Iv been buying 2-3 of them in laning and performing a lot better. It gives me 10-15 mana/5 (at 3 rings thats 5 mana/second)

It gives me 30-45 AP and 120-180 HPs as well as 15 damage to minion on AA.

But people dont see to know they changed and get all bent out of shape when I buy more then one.

Isn't this why they changed doran's ring last time? Because of this exact problem?

5050BS4 votes

Yes but Doran's Blades stack and I sometime see 2 on some champs so it was a double stander to not let them stack.

Also they dont built into anything so you HAVE to sell them later. You get good stats for the Gold when you buy them but it evens out when you sell them.

Yes, the balance team confuses me.

That's not even related to simple oversights. You're just trying to insult people.

Be relevant at least.

Yeah but the old one had basically everything stack. Not only did the %mana regen stack, but also the mana on kill passive which allowed for absurd lane mana sustain.

Make all passives unique?

nah they changed doran ring because of tank stacking dorans and being able to clear waves for ages. the nerf was not aimed to mages. now D ring is pretty much forgotten on tanks making it ok

Just wait until those Sion changes go through my friend. Lord of the rings sion engage!

Maybe something to do when you're behind. I definitely wouldn't do it if you are ahead of your enemy laner.

Depends, if you got an early kill but had to back early because of low health and only have about 400 gold it can be a good pickup so long as you aren't aiming to stack a tear/roa.

The stats a second ring provides can be more than enough to snowball even harder. It is part of why the tear items don't make great buys while stomping, they just don't provide the stats to keep snowballing early. Quick cheap purchases with decent powerspikes are far more effective for snowballing, and Drings are very gold efficient.

Yeah but generally if I get a kill in lane I have around 1k gold to spend on mana using mages. If I'm Kat I have far less, probably because I get them much earlier.

Yup, that is the scenario it is good in though, although I find it tends to happen most when playing against those early aggressive midlaners and killing them, especially since it gives you more laning power, more poke, and some extra health in case they want to try all inning you again.

If you're talking about the Katarina situation, it's Katarina, she doesn't want Doran's Ring, she has no need for mana, lol.

Now that I look at it...did Dark Seal always have mana? When did that happen? I don't remember it having mana....RIOT REMOVE THAT CRAP AND GIVE ME MORE AP.

According to the patch history: http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/The_Dark_Seal Its had mana forever.

Fondling Gems1 votes

Sorry, was trying to phrase my sentence so that I excluded Katarina and was specifically talking about situations where mana users have to back early without making it a really long run on sentence. Buying a 2nd Dring is specifically good if you get a kill very early (and are a champion that builds Dring).

I think if you only have 900 gold on your first back, and you want to go all-in on the early game with 3 starter items, it's better to get a Dark Seal and Corrupting Potion. They synergize well, they give a lot of HP sustain and more mana in most cases, and you might be able to upgrade to a Mejai's instead of selling the Dark Seal. I could be wrong, but I think that's preferable over 15 AP and 10 damage to minions on AAs.

Eh. I’ve been playin a lot of Ekko mid. Now the beauty of this is you can pretty much spam your q off cool down and never go oom. I have yet to lose lane with this. You have superior laning stats tons of raw ap for the early to early-mid game. And usually you can build a lead off of that so the fact that you spent an extra 800 gold doesn’t seem that bad. But the. Again I play in silver so who knows

ZackTheWaffleMan1 votes

Don't forget that extra 10-15 damage on-hit to minions. It's really nice.

Zone of Endless1 votes

I can see the double doran ring but i think buying 3+ you're really putting yourself behind since they don't build into anything.

Mcsquzzy1 votes

Its basically the same problem old dorans blade had, where 3 blade rengar had such a stat advantage over his opponent early it gets him ahead where he then was able to checkout of the triple dorans for better items to stay ahead

Zeppelins circus1 votes

The lord of the rings build is back!

Akali is SO HOT1 votes

I'm guessing they just probably forgot to make the passive unique when they changed the item. It doesn't seem like anyone is abusing it atm so I doubt they'll change it unless it becomes a problem.

5050BS1 votes

Why should it be Unique? Dorans Blade is not.

Akali is SO HOT1 votes

Stacking Doran's Blades is not problematic. Champions stacking Doran's Rings with the last iteration was problematic which is why they made it unique. Stacking new Doran's Rings doesn't seem to be problematic at the moment, but if it does become problematic they will most likely make it unique again.

I know right! I've gone back to my 900 gold back with Diana to pick up 2 more of these (+potion and control ward). She then can sustain mana (she only has a small mana pool so 15 in 5 seconds is a LOT), still has 80AP, and is pretty damned tanky too!

I actually got called a troll yesterday for doing it...

If you need to buy 2-3 of a starting ítem to get an advantage from it, doesn't this means that ítem is underpowered as hell?

I'm quite sure you are not supposed to buy more than one starting ítem, and when things like 3 Doran blades become meta is usually a sympton of bad balance.

It's not to say you gain no advantage from having it to start of with. It gives me everything I want on Diana early (AP HP and mana sustain), and buy another 2 gives me even more of everything I want. After that I can build anything and not be too squishy/lacking mana. Diana only needs 80 AP level 6 to be bursty, and having the freedom to NOT take resolve is great on her. The same thing goes for most people that back for more than one. They gain all their core stats for 400 gold per ring, plus some sustain, but know they're going to lose out on 240 gold per ring later on. For some it's worth, for some it's not.
